This Small Dog Is Truly a Hero for Saving His Buddy Who Is Way Larger Than Him
It's not surprising for dogs to form friendships with their fellow canines. They're social creatures, much like us humans.
They also have preferences when it comes to the dogs they hang out with. Studies have proven that social animals can form bonds with herd or pack members other than their mates.
With BFFs around, dogs can decrease their stress levels. Having companions also increases the level of security and comfort for dogs belonging to a group.
Animals with best friends tend to be less aggressive toward their preferred companions. They are generally more lenient with their companions than with other animals in the group or those that aren't familiar to them.
People can easily identify their dog's best friend. Dogs with best friends will likely stay close to their preferred companions.
While not all the time, they may even be willing to share their food, toys, and treats with their best friends. Studies also suggest that dogs can empathize with other canines.
This kind of relationship can be developed with the help of the owner. If positive behavior is reinforced, eventually the group of canines will bond with each other.
This, perhaps, is what happened between a dachshund and his friend, a St. Bernard. What's even more interesting is that the former was the primary reason behind the successful rescue of the latter.
Razor the Dachshund and Jazzy the St. Bernard Are the Best of Friends.
When Jazzy got stuck in the mud, he only had Razor to rely on. The little dog tried to find help by alerting a passerby in Belen (a city in New Mexico).
The man sensed that something was wrong, so he contacted the authorities.

Dog Owner Tim Chavez Believes That His Beloved Dog Was Trapped in the Mud for More Than 17 Hours.
Thankfully, the dachshund was able to lead a firefighter and police to the scene. Chavez was very grateful for the rescue.
You don’t really realize how attached you are to your pets until something like this happens.

The Two Dogs Were Able to Get Back Home. They're Safe and Sound.

The Persistence of the Dachshund Resulted in the Rescue of His Dear St. Bernard Friend.
Jazzy is well aware of the efforts made by his friend. After the incident, he showered his best friend with love.
He even became protective by keeping all things that might hurt his friend at bay. See the video for the amazing rescue!
Dogs Can Also Bring Joy and Comfort to Other Dogs.
Just by hearing the story of Razor and Jazzy, you can already tell that dogs are capable of showing their love and loyalty for each other.
Playtime and socialization are important to a dog's overall well-being. A couple of dogs who are also the best of friends can keep each other entertained and exercised.
As you have witnessed from the video, they're always willing to lend a helping paw in times of need. Science may not have definitively proven a dog's empathy for its kind.
But it's something that we can observe. And it is also something that we'll continue to see.
