Abandoned Pitbull Dog Feels Completely At Home With The Family That Rescued Him
One abandoned pitbull ended up finding more than shelter, he found a family that was ready to take him in without hesitation. What started as a quick text between a FedEx driver and his girlfriend turned into a rescue story with a very sleepy ending.
The dog had been left at a gas station in Kinta, Oklahoma, and once Jayme Harley got the message, she rushed over to help. From there, the pup settled into the car like he had been waiting for this ride all along, and the whole moment quickly turned into something unforgettable.
By the time he was safe, he was already acting like he belonged there. Read on.
Jayme Harley was sound asleep when a text awoke her; it was from Aaron Peters, her boyfriend.
Peters sent Jayme a photo of a sad-looking stray dog at a gas station, no less, and said: “Go get him!”

Peters spotted the pup while driving his early morning route for FedEx.
By chance, Jayme had expressed to Aaron that she wanted a second dog, but he had not been quite as enthusiastic. The text message was quite the surprise!

Peters couldn't help but fall for the dog's bright blue eyes.
In an interview with The Dodo, Jayme reflected on how exciting it was that Aaron had come around to the idea of another dog so spontaneously:
“When it registered with me that it wasn’t a dream, I knew that it was serious, that he really wanted me to go get him!”

Aaron told The Dodo:
Aaron told The Dodo:
“He looked like he needed a family. I figured we could give him somewhere good to live.”

Jayme brought the dog into the car, and he promptly dozed off, snoring with happiness. Jayme said:
Jayme took the text seriously and rushed immediately to the gas station in Kinta, Oklahoma, where the dog had been abandoned.
Once there, Jayme gave the dog some water and looked for clues to determine if he was truly abandoned or just lost when someone pulled up and told her the heartbreaking truth:
“A girl pulled up and told me that she’d seen him jump out of a car. And no one would take him in because he was a Pitbull. That broke my heart because it should not matter what breed he is. All he wanted was somebody to love him.”

Speaking of Rufus, Peters said, "he's a good dog."
