It Took Just 3 Hours for This Compassionate Person to Transform Heartbreaking Abandonment into a Fresh Start for an Orphaned Dog
Diamond didn’t just get abandoned, she got left with a paper plea and enough food to make you pause. One minute, she’s tied to the railing outside a stranger’s front steps, the next, she’s staring at a future that could have looked a lot darker.
Justin Hanley, a father of two in Philadelphia, found the pit bull-mix puppy outside his home, and the situation came with details, a note asking to “take me home,” and a plastic bag holding three slices of pizza. The kicker was that Justin couldn’t simply keep her, because he already had a dog, and that meant Diamond needed help fast.
What happened next took just three hours, and it started with a Facebook post and a whole lot of luck.
Diamond Was Abandoned in a Pretty Sad Way

Justin Hanley, a father of two in Philadelphia, came across a pit bull-mix puppy tied to the railing outside his front steps. Yet, that wasn’t the only surprising thing; the puppy had a note and a plastic bag with three slices of pizza.
The Content of the Note

Justin Hanley walked Diamond inside after finding her tied to the railing, plus that note and the pizza bag, and it immediately felt like more than a random drop-off.
“Please take me home,” the note read. “I’m a girl named Diamond. We can no longer keep her in our home. Thank you.”
Hanley Admitted That Anyone Feeding a Dog Pizza Is Certainly Not Equipped to Have One

Then the reality hit, Justin already had a dog, so he couldn’t take Diamond in for good, even though she clearly needed someone right away.
And if you think Diamond’s note was intense, Dave’s foster chaos with a Redditor for two years gets even wilder.
Hanley took Diamond inside and gave her something to eat. Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep her, as he already had a dog of his own to care for.
Finding Diamond a Home

That’s when he posted on a local neighborhood Facebook page asking who dealt with abandoned or lost dogs, and the messages started rolling in like clockwork.
Left with no choice, Hanley turned to social media to find a permanent home for Diamond. He posted on a local neighborhood Facebook page, asking who handled abandoned or lost dogs.
To his surprise, responses came pouring in. At that moment, he knew it wouldn't be difficult to find Diamond a place to settle.
“Within minutes, I knew that Diamond would have no trouble finding the home she deserves,” Hanley said.
Hanley’s post received over 150 responses, and within three hours, he found Diamond a home. Interestingly, the person who adopted Diamond happened to be a member of the Facebook group!
