Squirrel Decides to Start Family Outside of Couple's Window, Blessing Them with the Best View
Three months ago, Alex and his girlfriend got an unexpected front-row seat to a squirrel’s family life, and it all started right outside their window in France. The little visitor showed up carrying sticks, then kept coming back until she had built a nest on their windowsill and settled in like she belonged there.
What followed was a rare daily view of the squirrel raising her babies, with Alex, his girlfriend, and even their cat watching the whole thing unfold from inside the apartment. They filmed the moments for TikTok, and before long, the tiny nest became the most interesting spot in the house.
Then the babies arrived, and the windowsill turned into a full-time wildlife show.
“Our reaction was: 'What is happening right now?'” Alex told The Dodo. “Why is a squirrel putting sticks at our window?”
“We saw her sleeping in the sunlight. We saw her smelling the air when she woke up - everything she did. And we had the chance to see it in an intimate way.”

“It was so heartwarming and brought us so much joy,” Alex said.
As much as Alex and his girlfriend enjoyed having the mother squirrel and her babies in their window, they knew that one day they would have to say goodbye.
The babies grew quickly and felt the urge to explore the world on their own, so the whole family moved on.
Alex says that he and his girlfriend will keep an eye out for the squirrel who used to reside on their windowsill and her babies. It would be interesting to see them out in the world, living their lives to the fullest after witnessing their birth and growth right outside their window.
