23-Year-Old Dog Gets A Surprise Birthday Bash And It's The Most Heartwarming Thing You Will Ever See Today
If you're an animal lover, it's natural to want to have one of your own. For many people, that means getting a dog. Nothing beats the joy and love a puppy or older dog can bring into your life.
Owning a dog is definitely one of the best decisions you could ever make. They never fail to give us unconditional and overflowing love, and they like to show it as often as they can, leaving our hearts full and our faces smiling.
It's pretty easy to make a dog happy. They're usually happy by default, as long as you feed them, give them a little attention, and don't do anything mean to them.
However, that being said, it is truly tragic to see our furry friends slip away from life, whether due to certain conditions or old age. Compared to humans, dogs don't really live as long, and their usual life expectancy is between 10 and 15 years of age.
There's really no way around the inevitable loss of a pet, but we, as humans, can always put loving efforts into making all of our days count. Every owner knows that there will always come a time when they have to say goodbye to their best friend, but even with that knowledge, many fur parents struggle to see their pet finally meet their end.
This happens quite often once a dog reaches old age. However, there are certain times when dogs surpass their supposed life expectancy and still live up to 18 to 20 years.
Well, this one is definitely special, though—because he just celebrated his 23rd birthday!
Meet Bully. He was born in 1999.
He has lived through five presidencies, the rise of the Internet and social media, and he is even older than the first iPhone launched to the public. Now, he has also lived through a pandemic at the budding age of two decades and three years.
Given that his age is very uncommon in the dog world, his owners made it their mission to celebrate this milestone by throwing him a birthday party that he will surely treasure for the rest of his life.

Bully spent the majority of his life living with a caring family, basking in his owner's unconditional love and companionship, and playing in the park.
This was his life for the first 21 years. However, there came a point when his elderly owner could no longer take care of him properly, so he had to give up Bully to The Mr. Mo Project, a senior dog rescue run by Chris Hughes and his wife.
His former elderly owner described Bully as a "big dog in a little dog's body," and seeing all these pictures, that's actually an accurate way to describe him! He also proudly noted that despite Bully's age, he seemed not to have changed one bit.

“Bully is feisty, naughty, sweet, independent, gentle, calm, and he has an old man bark,” Hughes said. “Even at his age, he likes to try to push around another one of our Chihuahuas.”
However, now that Bully is on the older side, he needs a lot more rest than the average dog.
“Bully loves to sleep, and he has earned that right,” Hughes said. “He will fall asleep absolutely anywhere, sometimes in the middle of the floor in the kitchen, on a potty pad, or on the biggest, most comfortable bed in the corner.”
For his 23rd birthday party, Hughes, together with the family, decorated their home in honor of Bully and gave him two of his favorite things in the world: a nap and tasty treats.
“He doesn’t have too many teeth, so we got a soft biscuit and crumbled it up for him to enjoy,” Hughes said. “He really enjoys sleeping, so that’s the best gift we can give him.”

Hughes actually ensures that all the senior dogs feel special and cared for, and he regularly throws parties to celebrate every possible event or milestone with them.
“We try to celebrate all the great things that happen in our home because so often there are not-so-great things that happen,” Hughes said. “We celebrate when dogs finish chemo treatments, birthdays, adoptions, and we have been known to have Christmas in July if we think someone won’t make it until Christmas.”

At the age of 23, Bully definitely deserves all the parties that he can get.

A dog's life definitely isn't long enough for us humans to truly give them the love they deserve. This is why many people devote their time and money to making sure that their pets always feel loved and cared for.
After all, they are man's best friends! Comment with your thoughts, or share this article for all your family and friends to see!
