Tiny Tabby Cat Was Miraculously Rescued From A 30-Foot-High Highway Beam
Being a kid is all about being reckless, and animals are no different; they often get into all sorts of trouble, even if it is all part of a learning process. Unfortunately, youthful exuberance can lead them into adventures that are over their heads.
Take this tabby cat we have here: she found herself in a very dangerous situation. No one can tell how she ended up 30 feet above the ground on a highway support beam in southwest Houston, but everyone knew she needed to be rescued.
The kitten was discovered along a busy stretch of Highway 90, and the Houston SPCA, along with deputies from Harris County Precinct 1, rushed to the rescue. They utilized a traffic light installer, and with a lot of patience and careful maneuvering, they managed to save the poor animal.
It goes without saying that this experience was very traumatic for the little one; the rescue itself took a full six hours! It's amazing how they accomplished it.
First, rescuers placed a small trap on the beam of the traffic installer and then lured the little kitty to jump inside. She was examined and found to be in good condition, apart from some scrapes and bruises.
According to Julie Kuenstle, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the Houston SPCA, no owner came forward, and the kitten had no microchip.
Lucky Rescued

“HAPPY ENDING! Our 24-hour injured animal rescue ambulance was called after a kitten was discovered trapped on a freeway beam. @third_coast_services didn’t hesitate to offer help after Sgt. Loewen with @pctconstable asked for assistance in reaching the helpless kitten,” the Houston SPCA noted on Instagram.
“A small trap was placed high along the beam for the scared feline, where she eventually made her way inside. After over 6 hours of a team effort, she is now safely back on the ground and in the care of veterinary staff at the Houston SPCA! The little orange tabby suffered only minor scrapes and bumps.”
But It Was Clear She Needed Help
And It Came
The beautiful baby is now safe and sound, and she was named Lucky because… well, it’s obvious. She was extremely fortunate to be spotted in the first place—a cat so small and so high up in the air!
What were the chances? But she is a fighter.
The noise up there must have been horrendous, but she wasn’t afraid, and she managed to cling tightly to the beams. However, it is still unclear how she got there.
Maybe it was a case of animal cruelty, and someone just tossed her like a piece of garbage over the side of the road. Either way, we are so glad she is okay now.

After her complete veterinary exam, vaccinations, prevention, microchip, and spay, she was placed into an adoption program, where she found her forever home. This cat is fortunate.
