Turtle Entangled in a Balloon in the Middle of the Ocean Gets Rescued by Jet Skiers
Far out on the water off Palos Verdes, a routine jet ski ride turned into a rescue mission in seconds. Bryce Trevett and Angel Hernandez thought they were looking at floating trash, until they got close enough to see a loggerhead turtle tangled in a yellow balloon and barely able to move.
The two friends were about 12 miles offshore when they realized the animal was in serious trouble. They jumped in right away, cut the turtle free, and captured the moment on video.
It was a close call, and the rescue was not the first time these two had helped a turtle in trouble.
While enjoying a ride off the coast of Palos Verdes, the two men spotted something that looked like a yellow balloon

They were glad to be in the right place at the right time because the sea turtle would not have survived without their assistance. The sea creature was completely entangled in the balloon and could barely move its head or front flippers.
As they got closer, they realized it wasn’t just trash, but a turtle tangled in a yellow balloon

Fortunately, the two jet skiers cut it free and watched it enjoy its freedom once more. They even recorded the rescue event for others to see.
Surprisingly, this was not the first time Trevett and Hernandez had rescued a loggerhead turtle that had become entangled in a balloon or something else that people had discarded in this body of water.
That kind of carelessness can turn dangerous fast for wildlife.
This rescue feels similar to the humpback whale that saved a marine biologist from a shark attack.
Thankfully, the two jet skiers cut it free and watched as it enjoyed freedom once again

Unfortunately, some people's carelessness leads to situations like this, which can be life-threatening for turtles and other sea animals. Irresponsible human activities prove to be dangerous for wildlife, and the more we realize this, the safer these creatures will be.
But it’s all good news in the end that the turtle was freed from the tangles.

Rescuing an animal is akin to saving a soul, and the rescuers always go home feeling happy. It’s a good thing that the world is populated with people who have such good hearts and the wit to safeguard wildlife.
After all, not everyone wants to exploit wildlife, endangering these creatures. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
