Starving Dog Rescued By An Uber Driver Finds Forever Home In The Arms Of The Vet That Nursed Him Back To Health
Thousands of animals have probably walked through the doors of the Kentucky Humane Society since its founding in 1884. All those animals were in dire need of help, and the organization was their last shot.
One very special dog was surrendered to their care very recently. She took care of a dog that was found by an Uber driver.
The dog was emaciated, and his body condition score was 1 out of 9, meaning he was near death due to starvation.
He also had pressure sores on the right side of his body, and there was a presence of maggots on his genitalia. The doctor moved quickly to address the issues of the abandoned pup.
The doctor believes that the dog had been left to survive on the streets for weeks, if not months, before the Uber driver found him. He also had a leash that they had to cut off his fur because it was extremely tangled.
The 1-year-old pup, who was supposed to be full of energy, could barely move, let alone stand on his own. She knew it would be a lot of hard work, but she was willing to nurse the dog back to health.
The rescue dog's journey was documented on Dr. Bewley's TikTok

The dog didn't have any energy to move much

It was immediately obvious how bad his condition was

But the doctor knows the dog has a fighting chance

Travolta’s recovery was going to take time, but he was finally in the right place.
She wasn't about to give up on him

She will fight alongside this dog every step of the way

On the much-awaited update, Dr. Bewley shared they named him Travolta simply because he's Stayin' Alive

His new name fit the comeback story perfectly.
The followers of Dr. Bewley were anxious for an update, and the doctor obliged with the video below:
Dr. Bewley personally gave Travolta a bath

They had to cut off the leash that was stuck in his fur

Although he was unable to stand, Travolta couldn't pass up the opportunity to show his appreciation

After his bath, the fresh pup gave sitting a shot

He wasn't shy about asking for treats!

That night, he was kept safe by the doctor in her own home

He looks pretty relaxed in there

He settled in fast, like he already knew he belonged there.
Here's Travolta's day 2 at the shelter

He doesn't look like he's giving up anytime soon

We second this!

Travolta knows he's in good hands

Travolta was treated to breakfast in bed

Progress! He can stand now!

Soon enough, Travolta was strong enough to attempt walking!

He has to regain strength first before he can cause chaos at the shelter

It's a good thing Dr. Bewley is right beside him

She keeps an eye on him even when she's busy with other pets

Not too long after he was found unable to move, Travolta is once again capable of walking on his own!

That turnaround happened faster than anyone expected.
Dr. Bewley greets him first thing in the morning

She also takes him everywhere, and we think Travolta is the new intern

He also likes to keep squeaky clean, or maybe he's just prepping for the next surgery

His office breaks include lots of love and cuddles

He is slowly getting better each day

He is almost ready to make a mess around Dr. Bewley's clinic!

But first, naps!

Travolta looks extremely cozy huddled up to the good doctor

We think Travolta is falling in love

Warning: ninjas are cutting onions

Dr. Bewley will never allow anything bad to happen to Travolta again

He will no longer be anxious about being abandoned

The doctor will always keep him safe

She was only supposed to foster Travolta until he was healthy enough to be adopted

It looks like Travolta isn't going anywhere

He has found his pack

He absolutely looks like he belongs with them

There's no denying it... Dr. Bewley is Travolta's new mom!

And that foster arrangement turned into something permanent.
The Kentucky Humane Society announced the happy news on their social media!

Dr. Bewley will adopt Travolta!

You can watch the tear-jerking announcement below:
Travolta was officially adopted on Valentine's Day, and he was Dr. Bewley's number one Valentine!

A new addition to the Bewley family, and it looks like it's fur-ever!

The uplifting tale of Travolta, the dog who went from a starving stray to a beloved family pet, underscores the incredible impact that compassion and care can have in the lives of both animals and humans. This connection transcended the typical rescue narrative, as Travolta was not merely another case but a unique being deserving of love and attention.
Now an integral part of a vibrant household filled with two other dogs, two cats, a bunny, and three young boys, Travolta's transition into this bustling family showcases his adaptability and charm. His presence has not only enriched the lives of his new companions but has also positioned him as a symbol of hope and resilience. This story serves as a poignant reminder that the bond between pets and their owners can foster profound transformations, enriching both their lives in unexpected ways.
