Woman Thought She Spotted A 'Vintage Fur Hat' In Thrift Shop, But It Ended Up Being Even Better
TikTok user James Clear, author and productivity expert, emphasizes the joy of unexpected discoveries, stating, "Every moment of surprise can lead to a new opportunity for happiness." Recently, a user known as @thethriftymama was browsing a New York City thrift store when she spotted something fluffy that appeared to be a vintage fur hat, seemingly in mint condition from the 1950s. However, upon closer inspection, she was delighted to find that it was not a hat at all, but a living, breathing cat. This adorable orange cat, a beloved employee of the thrift shop, was simply taking a nap after a long day of entertaining customers. As noted by Daniel Pink, author and business expert, "The best experiences often come from the unexpected," and this cat certainly left a lasting impression on the shop's patrons, frequently mentioned in their online reviews as the store's most cherished employee.
@thethriftymama was about to pick up this "hat" but backed down at the last second when she realized it might be something else.
It surely does look like a hat from far away, and unless you are a regular customer of this thrift shop, spotting a cat there will be the last thing you would expect.

"I swear my heart jumped into my throat," she said.
He was taking the deepest nap of his life and had no idea that people mistook him for a hat.

He stands tall and watches over the store, but he mostly takes naps.
He takes time in between his naps to stare at customers with judgy looks. He's a cat, after all.

Here's the original TikTok video by @thethriftymama:
The cute orange cat is mentioned quite a lot in the store's online reviews.
"If you’re lucky, you’ll be graced by their affectionate, almost dog-like cat," one reviewer wrote.
People obviously love him and see him as a very crucial aspect of that thrift shop.

"Good prices. Huge selection. Cute cat," another added.
He's the biggest star in the store, and he's well aware of it!
Ultimately, @thethriftymama never got to buy the vintage hat she'd thought she'd found in that thrift store. But she got something even better, and we all got to see it because she was kind enough to share it with us. She definitely did not leave disappointed and still got something in the end.
Every thrift shop should have its own cat employee that ensures all customers get their dose of kitty cuteness whenever they visit. It's free therapy that could attract more customers and keep the kitties company at the same time.
