Dog Continued To Eagerly Seek Love And Affection From Humans Even After Being Permanently Injured By Humans In The Past
Pepo's story is the kind that sticks with you, because he kept reaching for people even after humans had already hurt him badly. Instead of pulling away, he leaned in, hoping someone would finally give him the love he had been missing.
That made his journey especially heartbreaking, since his injuries were permanent and his appearance did not make adoption easy. Still, Pepo kept showing the same gentle trust, and that patience eventually led him to the right home.
His path to happiness took longer than it should have, but the ending is worth it.
Pepo was rescued by Animal Angels Global from the streets of Spain, where he was found begging for scraps from passersby. Once they got him off the streets, he was taken to the UK to find his forever home.
Sadly, finding him a forever home wasn't as easy as it seemed.
With his severe underbite that caused several of his bottom teeth to stick out, a crooked nose, and out-turned feet, the poor thing was rejected again and again because of his appearance.

He ended up staying at his foster home for eight months while they continued posting about him on social media, trying to find a home for him. Since no one was coming forward, his rescuers decided to change tactics and started posting captions from Pepo's perspective.
“I have been looking for a new family for a long time now, and I’m wondering if nobody wants me because of my teeth,” one post read.
Just like a charm, it worked. Their posts about Pepo started touching more people's hearts, and that's when it caught the attention of a woman from Tiverton, England.

When Jo Strachan's sister tagged her in one of the Pepo posts, Jo immediately fell in love with Pepo's unique face. She and her husband, Glen, had also been looking for another dog to keep their dog Bob company since he had just lost his sibling a few months earlier.
So, Jo immediately set out to fill out an application, and after carefully reviewing it, the rescue decided she was just the person to take care of Pepo.
When they got Pepo home, Jo discovered that the pooch ran like a newborn lamb or foal. Apparently, it's because of the carpal valgus in his front legs, which prevents him from coordinating his feet like normal dogs would.

In addition to that, X-rays and scans revealed evidence of fractures and broken bones. This led Pepo's vets to believe that the pooch, who is around two years old, was severely abused when he was a puppy.
Despite that, the pup continued to show so much love and affection for humans. He didn't lose faith in humanity.
And despite his wonky looks and legs, he acts just like any other dog that loves playing and running around.
Jo says he's also very loving and always shows his gratitude to his new family. She even says that he immediately snuggled up to her within hours of adopting him and bringing him home.
“He really is just one of those animals where you think, how can he have been so mistreated and still want human company and trust?” Jo told DailyMail. “It’s just amazing.”

Pepo is truly one amazing pup. For dogs with his history, you'd expect something that would shy away from human touch as much as possible, but Pepo refused to be that dog.
Maybe he knew that the right family was just around the corner, waiting for him to show up. He didn't lose faith in that, and now he has this amazing forever home where he'll be loved to bits and pieces.
That heartbreaking “almost family” moment is similar to Vicente’s tuxedo meet-and-greet, where his adoptive family canceled.
That kind of trust is hard to forget.
Now Pepo finally gets the love he kept looking for.
