Disabled Puppy Gets Second Chance At Life With A Lego Wheelchair Made By A 12-Year-Old Boy
Gracie’s start in life was heartbreakingly rough. Born without front legs, the tiny puppy was discarded by the people who should have cared for her, then arrived at a veterinary clinic in terrible condition, with hair missing around her eyes and maggots on her body.
Even so, Gracie kept fighting, and the people who found her refused to give up on her. The Turney family, who already cared for other disabled pets, stepped in and looked for a way to help her move around as she grew.
What happened next involved a 12-year-old boy, a pile of Lego, and a wheelchair that changed everything. Read on.
The Turney family, who run an animal shelter, decided to adopt Gracie. Already being owners of two other disabled pets, they were familiar with the responsibilities involved.

The Turney family already knew what it took to care for a disabled pet.
The family was concerned about Gracie's mobility, as she was growing fast and was not yet eligible for a wheelchair fitting. She needed another alternative.

That’s when they had to get a little creative.
Luckily, clever 12-year-old Dylan came up with a brilliant idea! He built a makeshift wheelchair out of Lego.

The wheelchair was perfect for what Gracie needed. It was inexpensive and easily adjustable to suit the rapidly growing pup.

After a couple of weeks of practice, Gracie got used to using the wheelchair to move around.

She was figuring it out one step at a time.
This is the kind of breakthrough you see when a disabled puppy finally sheds tears after being loved and cherished.
She started walking, and before long, she was even running around easily.

As Gracie grew, bigger wheels were added to keep up with her.

And when she was old enough, she was fitted with an 'adult' wheelchair.

That smile says it all!

Gracie’s second chance came with a lot of love and a little Lego.
