Sad Dog With Separation Anxiety Sits On The Balcony And Waits For His Owner To Return Every Time He Leaves
Some dogs handle goodbye better than others, and Toby is clearly not one of them. The little pup from Peru has turned waiting into a full-time job, especially when his owner walks out the door.
Every time that happens, Toby heads to the balcony and keeps watch over the street, sometimes long after sunset. He is not just looking around, either, he is waiting for the person he loves most to come back home.
And when that familiar face finally appears, Toby’s whole mood changes in an instant.

It can be very difficult to handle dogs with separation anxiety.
Leaving them alone is hard because they're so attached to you and always want to be around you. When you leave a dog like Toby, he might scratch and chew on things like furniture or even your favorite pair of shoes.

It's much more dangerous if dogs like Toby try to run away from home.
Your door is likely to be a target for the dog if you're in an apartment. However, if you're in a house and your dog is left outside, he might try to dig under the fence or jump over it to escape.
You want to ensure that your dog is in a safe environment when you leave so he doesn't get hurt trying to escape.

There are things you can do if you also have a dog with separation anxiety.
A common approach is to avoid giving your dog attention when you come home until he calms down from his excitement. You should also provide your dog with plenty of chew toys to keep him busy while you're away.
