Dog Named Luka Is Still Searching For His Forever Home After No One Came To His Adoption Party On Valentine's Day
Being part of a dog's rescue organization is a noble calling, but it comes with plenty of responsibilities and sometimes even a broken heart. People who care for abandoned animals have enormous love for them, so they do everything in their power to help them find a new forever home.
While it is relatively easy for some dogs to find a loving home, occasionally, some of them have difficulties finding their new family. There is no rule or pattern regarding which dog will be adopted; it is simply about luck and the effort that kind-hearted individuals put into accomplishing this selfless task.
Battersea Brands Hatch in Kent, England, is one of the organizations that cares for abandoned dogs and cats, whether they are newborns or have recently lost their previous home for some reason. The organization is doing a great job, and from 1860 to today, they have helped more than three million animals be adopted and live in loving homes.
Their vision is to ensure that every dog and cat finds a new home where they will be treated with love, respect, and care. "We believe that every dog and cat deserves the best," says Battersea.
Six months ago, they welcomed the stray dog Luka to their shelter. Luka is a five-year-old giant dog, and though he looks strict at first glance, he is actually a shy, friendly dog who requires time to open up.
However, Luka did not get lucky in finding his new home, so recently, the people from the Battersea organization organized an adoption party for him. While the idea was wonderful, it did not go as well as they had hoped.
No one showed up at his adoption party, so he is still at the shelter, waiting for his future owner and best friend to arrive. But there is no need to worry; such a lovely and friendly dog will surely find his new home eventually, and you can see the information about his adoption and the shelter below.
This is Luka, a five-year-old friendly dog.

He likes playing with soft toys, walking in the sun, and lying by the warm radiator.

His adoption party was on Valentine’s Day, February 14th.

People from the Battersea organization made the party specifically for him in the hopes of helping him find a loving home.

They posted details of the adoption party on their social networks and website and mentioned Luka's personality as well.
“Adorable Luka is looking for a home that will provide him with a bed near a radiator and a supply of soft toys! Luka arrived at Battersea as a stray, so we have no history of his previous life. While Luka has made friends with all the staff, he does have a sensitive side and can be wary of new people initially. New owners must allow Luka to settle into the home and introduce him to people slowly. You will know when Luka is comfortable, as he loves nothing more than leaning in for a fuss and lying across your lap!” says the workers at Battersea.

They wanted to ensure everyone could see what a great dog Luka is and give them an opportunity to offer him the love and care he deserves.
“He will need owners who are experienced in handling large, nervous breeds. We have found that Luka is worried and intolerant of other dogs; he relies on his handler for guidance and support when meeting other dogs, so his new owners must have experience in this and be able to read Luka’s body language to tell when he is uncomfortable. Luka will need to be kept on a leash when out on walks, so it’s very important that he has his own private and secure garden where he can have some off-lead time.”

Luka doesn't like other dogs, so he needs to be the only pet in the house.
“Due to this, Luka’s new home will need to be in a quiet location in an area that is not highly populated with dogs. Owners must be confident in handling Luka and continue his clicker training. Luka will need a home with multiple caregivers who will be able to gradually increase his time spent alone. We feel he could live with older, sensible teenagers, but he would need to be the only pet in his new home,” says Battersea.

“Luka can also be sensitive when being handled around his ears.”
“He has had some treatment while at Battersea, which will be discussed with potential adopters. However, owners should be confident in continuing some positive associations should he need this again in the future.”

Unfortunately, no one showed up at his adoption party.

And Luka is still remaining in the shelter, waiting for his new owner to come.

Although the party didn't go as planned, the workers at Battersea are hoping to find Luka a new home in the near future.

He is truly a gentleman. Someday, and hopefully soon enough, he will get lucky and find his heartwarming home.
