Extremely Malnourished Stray Dog Looks Completely Different Now That She's Been Shown Love And Care
There are so many stray dogs on our streets. For them, every day is a constant battle to find shelter and food.
Some poor pooches simply lose that battle. Fortunately, some dogs get rescued and find a loving forever home.
Everyone at the RSPCA's Danaher Animal Home was astounded by Emily's condition when she was first brought there as a stray. She hardly weighed anything and was so frail that it was obvious she required all the love and attention the shelter could provide.
“She was little more than skin and bones,” Louisa Duranti, the deputy manager at Danaher Animal Home, said in a press release. “We put her on a special diet where we fed her little and often to slowly build up her weight and strength.”
Emily gained about 10 pounds in just a few weeks with the aid of all her new buddies. Despite her nervousness in light of everything she had been through, she gradually started to come out of her shell.
It didn't take long for a great family to inquire about her and adopt her into her new permanent home once she was well and healed.
“We saw Emily's story and pictures, and it broke our hearts,” Mark Colbear, Emily’s new dad, said. “We felt we had to apply to try and help her.”

Even while Emily still experiences occasional anxiety in her new home, she has made a remarkable recovery since the time she initially came to the shelter. Everyone who has been part of her healing journey is overjoyed to see her flourishing. She looks like an entirely different dog.
“Emily is doing really well and has almost completely settled in now,” Colbear said. “We’ve built her up to eat full meals, and although she still has anxious moments, especially at night, we can only imagine what she’s been through. Cuddles in the armchair with us seem to help!”
“She’s really coming out of her shell and finding her voice. She gives us happy little grunts when we play in the garden or give her fuss in her beanbag.”

It was difficult to picture Emily as a healthy, carefree puppy when she was initially saved. Her new family doesn't mind at all because they are just so pleased to see her confidence rising. In fact, she is now doing so well that she occasionally feels comfortable disobeying the rules.
“We’re so lucky to have her and are so pleased that we’ve been able to give her a wonderful forever home after everything she’s been through,” Colbear said.
