Cat Found Near Nashville Airport Mysteriously Microchipped to Italy
Microchipping, or implanting microchip IDs in cats, is common nowadays. This process involves inserting a microchip under their skin using a syringe, which functions as a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device.
Cat owners know very well that cats love to roam, putting them at a higher risk of wandering far from home. What could be worse than losing their way back?
Every year, a significant number of cats end up in shelters due to the lack of means to identify them. That is why microchipping is encouraged among cat owners.
However, there is one crucial aspect of microchipping that should not be disregarded: registration. Without it, the RFID chip becomes useless. Additionally, the details must be updated with your current location or address.
The same issue occurred with this lovely orange stray cat found near the airport in Nashville. The Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control, also known as MACC, discovered her with a microchip.
Mysteriously, it was an Italian microchip. Now, MACC has turned to the internet to help locate this cat's owner.

We cannot imagine being away from our beloved pets. The thought of pets being separated from their loving owners is simply unimaginable.
MACC's Facebook post has been shared over a thousand times in the hopes of helping this poor cat reunite with her owner. They have already submitted a report (including the cat's description) to the airport in case someone inquires about the lost kitty.
The post has garnered numerous comments. One commenter suggested sharing the post among different groups for a wider reach.
Many of those who commented are from Italy, including a veterinarian who also reached out.
Some have asked for the information found on the microchip. However, due to existing privacy laws, it is not possible to share the owner's contact information with the public.

The mystery continues as the identity of the cat (as well as her owner) remains unknown.
Others have suggested that MACC post about this on TikTok due to its wider audience, as it is currently the most popular platform. Posting on TikTok might help their campaign reach the owner more quickly.
Some offered to contact the army vet clinic in Naples and Vicenza, theorizing that the kitty belongs to a military family. There are already many speculations aimed at helping locate her owner.

A community working together.
It is amazing and heartwarming to see everyone offering help and how the internet, especially the cat community, has rallied around MACC's post. Nothing is impossible when everyone works together.
