This Dog Won The 'Best Employee' Award Every Year Since Her Dad Started Working From Home
Meeka did not just become the office dog, she turned it into a yearly award streak. Since her dad started working from home, this family pup has kept showing up as the company’s unofficial top employee, and the setup is as funny as it is sweet.
Michael Reeg works remotely for Accuride International Inc., and Meeka is one of the dogs keeping him company during the workday. Her sister Kya is part of the crew too, but Meeka seems to take the job title a lot more seriously, especially when it comes to guarding the office door and sticking close to her dad.
Now the framed awards, the family reactions, and the ongoing competition between the dogs make this one workplace story hard to ignore. Read on.

Meet Meeka, the pup who has won several Employee of the Quarter awards, and there is no better person to present them to her than her dad.
Meeka is one of three employees at Accuride International Inc., a southeastern sales center. And guess who is the boss of the company? That's right, Meeka's dad and boss, Michael Reeg.
The last, but not least, employee is Kya, the other family dog who also happens to work for Michael Reeg.

Michael began working remotely last year as a district sales manager for the company. Over the past year, he has realized that dogs can actually be better employees than humans, even if they know nothing about the industry.
"Transitioning to a home-based position was quite a change," Reeg tells The Dodo. "It's quiet here. You need to get yourself fired up and excited about the day. Having a faithful companion in the office certainly helps."
That home office setup clearly came with a few unexpected perks.

Even though Meeka doesn't perform tasks like a person would, she still supports her dad when he needs her.
"There are times when I'll even talk to her as I work through a problem or map out a customer solution. I try out my sales pitches and presentations on her. She's not easily impressed or swayed. All she hears is 'blah, blah, blah, Meeka' - but she enjoys hearing my voice, and I love that she pays attention. Having her in my office all day is something we both look forward to."
Kya seems to only want to work when she feels like it or when she needs a change of scenery. "She is really my wife's dog," Reeg says, "so she only comes up to the office when my wife is gone. We are her second choice for company!"

On the other hand, Meeka is so dedicated and motivated to go to work that she shows up even when the boss is not there.
"If my office door happens to be shut, she will spend the day lying in front of the door, just in case I'm really in there," he says. "In my opinion, that earned her the title of Employee of the Quarter."
Michael made it official as well.
This is similar to the Labrador “failed” service dog school, yet he keeps showing up with random gifts.

"I was not surprised at all when my dad first showed me the framed picture of Meeka as Employee of the Quarter because Meeka is very loyal to my dad and his (their) work," said Madison, Michael's daughter. "I just thought it was hilarious."
She won this award in 2016, and ever since then, Meeka has been upping her game and has consistently won the Best Employee award.
This family has fully embraced the joke, and Meeka keeps collecting the hardware.

Michael's colleagues in California also support Meeka's awards and say that she deserves each and every one of them.
"He sends an update after every quarter. Meeka is an outstanding support to Michael and his work," said a spokesperson for Accuride International, adding: "Dogs are the best."

It will soon be time for Michael to choose another Employee of the Quarter, and he says it may not necessarily be Meeka.
"I haven't decided yet if the prestige is going to her head, or if Kya feels disgruntled," Reeg says. "Maybe a change is needed for one quarter so that Meeka doesn't feel entitled. I want her to stay sharp."

Meeka may want to keep an eye on the competition.
