Hyper-Realistic 3D Cat Billboard In Tokyo Is Taking The World By Storm
Tokyo has no shortage of flashy screens, but every so often one display manages to stop people in their tracks. This time, it is a hyper-realistic 3D cat billboard in Shinjuku, and the internet cannot seem to look away.
The giant screen sits above one of the busiest parts of the city, where attention is hard to win and even harder to keep. Instead of a standard ad, viewers get a calico cat that naps, stretches, and stares down at pedestrians like it owns the block.
It started as a test, but the reaction was immediate, and now the Shinjuku Cat is getting global attention. Read on.
Cross Shinjuku Vision is an advertising space located outside Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, Japan.
Placed squarely next to the Cross Shinjuku building is an absurdly enormous screen that covers an area of 154.7 square meters.

As Twitter users began sharing with the world, that screen displays the most realistic, incredible, moving 3D cat the world has ever seen.
Videos of the 3D cat appear as though the cat is doing normal cat things: napping, yawning, and gazing down at the humans in the busy streets of Tokyo.

The technology is incredible, featuring 4K images and speakers with top-tier technology; the cat is undeniably realistic and captivating pedestrians like never before.
MicroAd Digital Signage and Yunika Vision developed the cat under the supervision of Cross Space, which owns the building. Their goal is to display the 'future of possibilities.'

Amazingly, the broadcasts that originally aired were just tests, and the official launch was scheduled for July 12, 2021.
The screen used is a special 3D one, and if you're interested in seeing it live and in person, it can be found at the east exit square of Shinjuku Station.
It’s giving the same vibe as Japan’s new capybara café outshining traditional cat cafés.
There is a curved LED digital signage trend quickly taking over Japan after already being extremely successful in South Korea and China.

The calico cat billboard is on a set schedule, appearing between the hours of 7 AM and 1 AM, changing frequently throughout the day.

By contrast, the building was quite plain before the cat billboard was installed:

Naturally, it should come as no surprise that the cat-obsessed internet is living for this incredibly realistic billboard.
Naturally, it should come as no surprise that the cat-obsessed internet is living for this incredibly realistic billboard.

We are living in the future now.

It is indeed crazy cool.

It's not an exaggeration to say the 3D cat looks realistic! Some people even thought it was animatronic.

PAWESOME

On their website, Cross Shinjuku Vision states that around 190,000 people will pass by their billboard, dubbed the Shinjuku Cat, daily. Check it out in glorious action right here, right meow:
