Bride Kicks Her Brother-In-Law From The Wedding After He Brought His Unruly Dog Who Terrified Their Guests
It's difficult to marry into a family when you know your husband's brother doesn't like you. OP experienced this during her recent wedding when her brother-in-law brought his dog.
OP's BIL is 21 years old. Jack is the youngest in her husband's family, and OP says he is spoiled since their entire family gives him everything he wants.
For reasons unknown to OP, her BIL has never liked her. He is passive-aggressive towards her and has made some snide remarks about OP on several occasions.
Jack has a big German Shepherd dog that he absolutely loves and brings everywhere with him. The dog has high energy, which proved to be an issue during OP's wedding.
OP's mother-in-law relayed that Jack wanted his dog's name addressed in the invitation they gave him. OP said that the dog's name wasn't included because Jack couldn't bring his dog to the event.
OP's mother-in-law was confused by this, saying Jack takes his dog with him everywhere. She claimed Jack doesn't appreciate OP's perceived disrespect towards his dog.
In her defense, OP stated she doesn't hate dogs. She has a Chihuahua of her own who, it turns out, also doesn't like being around Jack's moody dog.
OP put her foot down as the bride and declared that no dogs would be allowed at their wedding. She thought the problem was solved, but she was proven wrong on the day of her wedding.
Not only did her brother-in-law arrive with his large dog, but he was also sporting a shirt that proudly stated, "Dog Dad."
OP was especially shocked when Jack and his dog sat at the table where the family was. OP's mother-in-law was smiling while Jack's dog was left unattended, running around and ruining things.
The dog was also making guests uncomfortable to the point where some of OP's closest friends had to leave the event early. After witnessing the chaos, OP decided it was enough.
OP told Jack to take his dog elsewhere and have someone else take care of him. Jack refused and began arguing with OP until she had to tell him to leave her wedding.
OP's mother-in-law told her she was being unreasonable for kicking Jack out of the event. She said OP should have let them stay and enjoy his brother's wedding.
OP's newly minted husband just stood there and did nothing, saying they should have eloped if everyone was going to misbehave. Jack was still arguing with OP when she insisted he had to go, so Jack and his dog left.
Her husband's side of the family was upset and told OP she was taking this opportunity away from Jack to enjoy his brother's wedding. Her mother-in-law said OP was a bridezilla for kicking an innocent dog out of her wedding.

They said OP was an a**hole for banning Jack and his dog from the wedding instead of finding a solution to keep the peace. Read OP's full post below:

OP made her boundaries clear, but they chose to ignore them. Her husband could have at least supported his new wife when she was standing up for herself.

OP can buy her husband a new spine as a wedding gift.

It was literally the least he could do, but he stood there like a lopsided cake topper.

Would you rather be single or be married to someone who can't pick a side?

OP will need a lot of luck and a lot of patience.

Oh no, I did the thing you specifically told me not to do! How dare you make a scene and ruin your wedding!

Being an animal lover is no excuse to allow your dog to ruin someone else's event.

OP's mother-in-law had no right to tell OP what she can and can't do at her own wedding.

OP didn't even have to explain her reasoning for not wanting Jack's dog at her wedding.

Jack behaved like an absolute jerk when he brought his dog and wore a shirt to draw more attention to it.

When the bride or groom tells you that their wedding is an animal-free event, you should listen to them. Their wedding is not the time to test what you can get away with, even if you are family.
OP was completely justified when she made her brother-in-law leave the venue after his dog terrified their wedding guests. His tacky dog-dad shirt should have been enough reason to ban him from the event anyway.
