Monastery Adopts Stray Puppy, And Now He's Living His Best Life As A Friar
Carmelo’s story is the kind that makes animal lovers stop and smile. A stray puppy who once lived on the streets is now wearing a habit and living at a monastery in Bolivia.
The Franciscan Monastery of Cochabamba adopted him after he was rescued by Proyecto Narices Frías, and the little dog quickly became part of the community. Known as Friar Bigotón, he spends his days with the brothers, playing, running, and enjoying his new home.
It is a sweet rescue story with a very unexpected twist, and Carmelo looks completely at ease in his new role.
Meet Carmelo, or Friar Bigotón as he's now known. He is a unique resident of the Franciscan Monastery of Cochabamba, Bolivia.

The pup is not just a friar by name alone—he even has his very own habit to wear.

Life wasn't always easy for the pup. He lived on the streets for a long time, but thankfully he was rescued by a local animal shelter.
The shelter now hopes that Carmelo's successful story may lead to other dogs being adopted. Perhaps even some other monasteries might embrace the concept of adopting a furry resident of their own.

It’s also like Officer Mercado choosing to take in the lonely pup chasing him on a deserted road.

Carmelo also enjoys a spot of fishing.

We are so happy for you and your fun new life, Carmelo!

How incredibly cool is this story? We love a rescue with a happy ending, but this one is particularly special.
We think Carmelo looks amazing in his habit too! What do you think?
We hope Carmelo will have the best life ever with his brothers at the monastery. He certainly deserves it!

What a charming little friar.
Wait until you see the homophobic owners who banished a “gay” dog to a shelter, and what happened next.
