6 Tiny Reasons Cat People Will Love This Georgia Kitten Rescue
Six kittens in Chatham County got the kind of ending cat people always hope for: rescue, vet care, foster homes and even a couple of possible adoptions. Here are the sweetest parts of how the little group went from an overgrown area to safety.
1. An odd sound led to six kittens
The rescue started when a Chatham County police officer was finishing a service call and heard a strange noise. Following it led her to an overgrown area, where she found six kittens.

2. They looked like they needed help right away
According to the police department, the kittens did not seem feral. They also appeared to need food, medical attention and a home, turning a routine moment into a full-on kitten mission.

3. The officer kept working on the problem even off duty
Instead of walking away, the officer spent her off-duty weekend trying to find a rescue that could take the kittens. While she searched, she and a few other officers kept checking on them and bringing food.
4. A cat sanctuary said yes
All About Cats, a sanctuary on Hilton Head Island, told the officer that if she could safely trap and transport the kittens, the sanctuary would handle the rest. For six vulnerable kittens, that was the big break.
5. It took a team, and one kitten made them earn it
Multiple Chatham County officers helped with the trapping effort. They managed to gather all six kittens and get them to the sanctuary, including one especially stubborn little holdout that seemed determined to remain in the wild.

6. Now all six have names, clean bills of health and a next step
Savannah, Tybee, River, Ellis, Whitaker and Forsyth all passed their veterinary exams on Friday. They were then placed in foster homes until they can be adopted. As of the department's Saturday post, two Chatham County officers were planning to adopt two of the kittens themselves, which means this rescue may end with a pair of very official forever homes.
