This 80 Photos Proof That Size Still Matters
People like to repeat the phrase “size doesn’t matter,” but that depends entirely on what you’re measuring. When it comes to a burger, most would disagree. The same goes for a parachute - if it’s too small, it stops being safety equipment and turns into a fashion accessory.
Size also plays a real role in tech choices. In the U.S., 256 GB has become the most common smartphone storage option, and about half of iPhone buyers in 2022 picked that capacity. Bigger, in some cases, is simply more practical.
There’s also a different side of the size argument - pure visual comedy. Oversized everyday objects and unusually large animals trigger instant curiosity. A dog that can look you in the eye while you’re standing in the kitchen feels surreal. An enormous roll of toilet paper built to last weeks for a whole household looks more like a prop than a household item.
The exaggeration makes ordinary things entertaining. Online communities have leaned into that appeal by collecting examples of objects, animals, and foods that are far beyond standard proportions.
One popular example is the “Absolute Units” community on Reddit, where people share photos of things that are unexpectedly massive compared to their normal counterparts. Sometimes size is about function. Sometimes it’s about preference. And sometimes it’s just funny to look at.

Size clearly isn’t just a throwaway detail - sometimes it decides usefulness, sometimes popularity, and sometimes the joke. From bigger storage to oversized everyday items that look unreal, scale changes how we react.
Practical, excessive, or just hilarious, large-scale things grab attention fast - and people never get tired of pointing a camera at them.
