Dog Moved to Tears After Getting Rescued from River
You've probably heard this a thousand and one times, but we'll repeat it: dogs are the best! If you're an unapologetic dog lover like us, then you're not tired of hearing that.
Dogs are man's best friend for a reason. They provide us with endless entertainment, unlimited cuddles, genuine love and care, and many scientifically proven benefits.
Yes, even science believes our canine companions are a superior species! No other animal comes close.
Unfortunately, they don't always receive the love and care they give back. Millions of dogs worldwide are homeless and starving, with no hope of ever feeling happy again.
Research shows that in the United States alone, about 70 million animals are living on the streets.
According to the Humane Society of the United States, only about six to eight million of these 70 million stray animals enter the nation's 3,500 shelters annually. Not the kind of stats you were hoping for, was it?
We still have to be thankful for the unique humans behind these shelters. From volunteers to workers, many people put immense effort into getting more dogs off the streets.
We found a story that reminds us how important these people are. It's guaranteed to melt your heart just like it did for the dog involved.

Meet Biggie
Biggie is an elderly German Shepherd dog that was abandoned near the Los Angeles River. Unfortunately, he was trapped in the river for a few weeks with no hope of escape.
Although residents in that area tried their best to get him out, there was no way to enter, so they resorted to providing him with food.
Searching for Help
The residents, in a desperate move to save the dog, called in a non-profit animal rescue organization, Hope For Paws.
Many employees working at animal rescue facilities are accustomed to receiving frantic phone calls from concerned residents regarding miserable animals. So, this was a routine rescue operation for them.
Help Comes Along
Hope For Paws dispatched a rescue crew to the river following a report from the neighborhood. However, they were taken aback by the unique obstacle.
It All Works Out in the End
Luckily for both the rescuers and Biggie, the neighbors were able to help, and they gathered enough equipment to rescue him.
As soon as Biggie felt warm hands on his head, he burst into tears. It was easy to tell that he was happy to be saved.
Finally, a Happy Ending for All
Although Biggie was wary of the rescue team at first, he grew accustomed to the kind volunteers at the center after a while. He appeared to appreciate the love and support from those around him.
We can’t overemphasize the importance of rescuing dogs. We’re so glad this German Shepherd was saved and is doing well.
