Vets Perform CPR on Mother Elephant as Her Worried Baby Watches On
A mother elephant and her calf were caught in a terrifying rescue scene in Thailand, and the baby had to watch as vets fought to save its mom.
After heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, the pair slipped into a 7-foot-deep drain hole at Khao Yai National Park. Rangers, vets, and volunteers rushed in, but the mother was badly distressed and the situation quickly became dangerous.
What happened next turned the muddy accident into an unforgettable rescue, and the footage is hard to forget.
After heavy rainfall in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand, the 10-year-old mother elephant and her baby slipped on some mud and became trapped in a drain hole at Khao Yai National Park.

The mother became very distressed, making it difficult for the park rangers to tend to her.

"It was impossible to get near the baby while the mother was nearby, so we gave her three doses of tranquilizers," said Dr. Chananya Kanchanasarak. "But she moved toward her baby before passing out and hit her head."

That was the moment the rescue turned urgent.
It also echoes the frantic rush to free an albino baby elephant after days of captivity.
In desperation, the rescue team used a cherry crane to pull the mother elephant out of the hole. They then performed CPR on her as her concerned calf watched helplessly.

Thankfully, the mother elephant regained consciousness and was reunited with her sweet (and very worried) baby.
