Shelter Dog Returned To Her Original Shelter After 8 Years
Daisy’s story starts with a happy adoption and ends with a heartbreaking return. After eight years in one home, the dog was brought back to the shelter where her life began, leaving her confused, scared, and suddenly without the family she knew.
Now 10 years old, Daisy has spent more than 100 days waiting for a new match, and the shelter says she is getting very little attention from potential adopters. Her age, size, and nervousness around new people have made the search even harder.
For a dog who already lost one home, the wait is starting to feel painfully long.

Older dogs often get overlooked, even when they have the calmest personalities.
“Many people prefer to re-home puppies and younger dogs so that they can have them for their whole lives,”
Steve Craddock, manager at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, said.
“But people often forget how much time, training, and exercise younger dogs need. Older dogs are often much more relaxed than younger dogs, and in many cases, they would rather just have a cuddle on the sofa and some human affection than be running around chasing tennis balls all day.”
It’s a heartbreaking parallel to Bailey bolting back to the shelter after getting scared at her new home.

Then the shelter shared what Daisy needs most.
He went on to say
“Daisy is looking for owners who have owned large breeds before. She can also be a little unsure around new people at times, so she will need quiet places for her walks and a household that doesn’t expect too many visitors. Once she has built a bond with you, she is incredibly loyal and loving and enjoys being pampered.”

That long wait is nothing compared to the dog adopted after 2,381 days in the shelter.
