Beloved Cat of Anthony Hopkins 'Demands' Entertainment While Social-Distancing, So the Actor Plays Piano for Him
What would you do for your cat? Anthony Hopkins is setting an example for cat owners everywhere.
It's nice to see people looking out for each other during this difficult time. And when I say people, that includes cats (obviously).
Earlier this year, Anthony Hopkins shared a video of himself in self-isolation due to the pandemic. The 82-year-old movie star kept himself busy by playing the piano for his cat, Niblo, who seemed to be very pleased with this.
“Niblo is making sure I stay healthy and demands that I entertain him in exchange… cats 🐱👤,” Anthony captioned the Instagram video.
Niblo is often featured on Hopkins's social media, much to the delight of cat fanatics. Not long before he played the piano for his kitty, the Oscar-winning actor posted a video to his followers, wishing everyone a good morning from him and his “pal.”
“This is my pal Niblo, saying good morning to everyone - oh, he got bored!” Hopkins chuckled as the cat ran away during the clip, which was captioned, “Niblo wishes everyone a lovely day…”

In August, he uploaded a video to Instagram of himself playing a tune with Niblo on his lap, captioning the post, “The pleasures of my life: a cat, a piano, a book, and a cup of tea.”
Hopkins says animals have been some of the most important aspects of his life.
“I was driving around Venice the other day, and I thought, ‘It’s all a dream. What a struggle it all is. It’s all an illusion, but it’s the glory of life, the sheer glory of looking for it in everything.’ And I’ve become aware of that now, more than ever,” he said. “It’s in there. It’s in my cat, it’s in my dog, it’s in you. How could it be otherwise?”
“I watch my cat jumping to a little pinch on the fireplace. Now, he can’t write a book; he doesn’t know anything about philosophy or mathematics. But how the hell does he do that? That is totally awe-inspiring.”
Animals are certainly great company during self-isolation!
