Stray Cat Comes To A Family Home Every Day To Fix Her Favorite Human’s Hair
Grey Cat did not need much convincing to make herself at home. Once the stray started slipping into Jessica Heidelberg’s neighborhood, she quickly turned one family’s house into her regular stop, and one person into her favorite target for grooming.
Heidelberg says the cat is affectionate, independent, and very committed to fixing her hair whenever she settles into a chair. Her daughter helped bring the cat around more often, and before long, Grey Cat was showing up daily for food, naps, and attention.
Now the family has a routine, and Grey Cat seems perfectly happy with it.
This is Grey Cat. Yes, that is her name. It was given to her by a family she frequently visits. She is a stray but chose them to be her humans.

She loves "doing" Jessica's hair. “I say she is not my cat, but she has clearly chosen me as her person,” Jessica says.

Heidelberg hadn't given it much attention until her 6-year-old daughter started sneaking the cat in regularly. The cunning cat made the family her own, settling in to call them her own.
“Grey Cat dashes through any open door, immediately runs to hork down some food, and then acts like she owns the house,” Heidelberg said.
It’s a lot like the sister’s house cat drama, where a woman had to “steal” the cat back from her niece.
“She is very sweet and cuddly but does not like staying inside all the time, so I give her the freedom to choose.”

“She clearly prefers to eat my hair. She also likes to lay, stand, or nap on my chest. Sometimes she gently bites my face in affection. But she loves to ‘fix’ my hair any time I sit in my favorite chair.”

“I let her in when it gets cold or rains, or just whenever she decides she needs a free meal,” Heidelberg said. “I let her out when she’s had enough, or if she pleases.”

Grey Cat isn't content to be entirely inside or outside because she used to live outside. Heidelberg, therefore, reached a consensus.
“I let her in when it gets cold or rains, or just whenever she decides she needs a free meal,” she said. “I let her out when she’s had enough, or if she pleases. I allow her to nap, play hair stylist, or play with my cats’ mouse toys, which they take for granted.”
This sounds like a great arrangement. This cat gets the best of both worlds.
Grey Cat really did negotiate the perfect setup.Wait until you see how a roommate’s “free help” request for trimming her cats’ nails turned into a standoff.
