Cat Informs His Owner That He Is Hungry By Playing On A Little Piano
Cats can be charming, dramatic, and just a little too good at getting what they want. In Winslow’s case, that talent comes with a tiny piano and a very specific message: feed me now.
Kate Nyx taught her 7-year-old tabby to play the piano when he wants food, and the result is a cat who has turned snack time into a performance. He also uses the keys to ask for attention and even to complain about a dirty litter box, which makes him sound less like a pet and more like a tiny roommate with opinions.
Once Winslow starts playing, there is no ignoring him, and that is exactly what makes this story so funny.
This cat learned to play the piano to inform his owner that he’s hungry
The adorable 7-year-old tabby chonk became an internet celebrity thanks to his musical skills combined with his big appetite. The thing is, he plays the piano every time he wants food, which is obviously quite often.
His owner, Kate Nyx, shared a video of one such incident on Twitter. She wanted to show the world what she has to put up with, and people fell in love with the charming cat.
At the beginning of the video, we can see Winslow pressing various keys, to which Nyx replies, “Is it time for dinner?” Winslow meows, which could be interpreted as a “yes.”
Then he turns casually to Kate, who asks once more, “When is dinner time?” to which Winslow responds with a long meow. “It’s not noooow,” says Kate. Poor guy now has to wait another couple of hours.

The 7 Y.O. cat was trained to play the piano because he would otherwise be quite loud

Kate Nyx is a musician, and she bought the little piano on eBay when she was a high school student. Winslow started showing interest in the musical instrument, playing different notes and attempting to understand what was producing the sounds.
The cat was actually taught to play the piano because, before, he used his voice to get what he wanted: “He used to run around screaming all the time, and I was like, ‘this is no good,’” says Kate. “The piano is another way to communicate, so he’s not screaming bloody murder.”
“It became some kind of hunting reward because he can’t do much in the apartment. He tends to only play it when we’re in the kitchen, and he knows he can possibly get a snack,” she explained.
Winslow also uses the piano to communicate things like his need for attention and warnings about a dirty litter box

Winslow doesn’t play just for food. He also uses the musical instrument to communicate his needs, when he wants attention or when the litter box needs cleaning. “It’s his alarm system in general. He learned that I encourage moving his paws up and down the keyboard, so he does that when he really wants something,” said Kate.
This newfound fame inspired a musical single. It was announced in a follow-up tweet: “I guess since this is my first tweet to go legit viral, I should inform you his single drops Friday on http://katenyx.com/music.” It’s called Bean Gotta Scream, and it is also available on Bandcamp.

The Internet community fell in love with the adorable cat, and his video quickly became viral.

The internet immediately fell in love with Winslow and his musical skills. One person even commented that he liked this way more than he ought to, stating that Winslow is a very gifted improvisational musician and commending his piano solo.
This is the same kind of petty problem as when a man tried to get revenge on his drunk neighbors.
A lot of people were clearly ready to crown him a tiny genius.
