Overweight Kitty on a Diet Is Spending Hours Waiting in Front of Automatic Feeder
Luna did not take long to make her feelings about food known. The young cat, once found abandoned in a cornfield, quickly went from being open-fed to needing a much stricter routine after she packed on weight faster than her family expected.
Her owners already had another cat, Shayla, and assumed Luna would settle into the same easy feeding setup. Instead, Luna turned every meal into a race, then spent the rest of the day acting like she had been personally wronged by the empty bowl.
So her family tried an automatic feeder, and Luna immediately decided it was worth her full attention. Read on.

They’ve stopped leaving her food out, but then another problem appeared: every time they fed her, she would eat her food extremely quickly and then cry for more for the rest of the day. Luna’s owners knew they had to do something about her insatiable appetite, so they bought an automatic food dispenser that gives her smaller amounts of food five times a day. She was unimpressed at first, but as soon as she realized the machine had something to do with food, an instant bond was created.

She knew it was food-related when she first saw it because the back of the feeder has a big tank," Tanner said. "She spent most of her time that night trying to break into it with no luck. When it dispensed for the first time, she ran away but then ran back when she realized it dispensed food. She has been in love with it ever since."
The automatic dispenser gives out food at the same time each day, and Tanner soon noticed that Luna had remembered the timetable, and she would come and wait in front of it much earlier.
This also echoes an owner who ignored her vet, then lectured her daughter-in-law for following advice.
Even when feeding time is not approaching, Luna still loves to hang out in front of the machine, just in case some food miraculously shows up.
"If she isn't busy napping, she likes to spend her time hanging by the feeder, being a kitty land mine," Tanner said. "Sometimes she lays on her back; other times, she just stares at it, almost willing the food to come."

Sticking to the diet is always hard, even for pets, but luckily Luna's family is there to help her. Because if it were up to her, she would spend the entire day eating and feel no guilt whatsoever.
"I don't think she loves anything more than food," Tanner said.
