Andrew Cotter had no sports to cover, so he turned a quiet workday into one of the internet's happiest dog moments. With the BBC sports world on pause, the reporter ended up holding a mock video call with his two Labradors, Olive and Mabel, and they were fully committed to the bit.
What started as a playful stand-in for a performance review quickly became a viral hit, especially once the dogs reacted to complaints about ruined sofas and escaped squirrels. The clip has now been watched millions of times, and it is easy to see why.

The adorable Labradors in the videos are just two of the million pets who are now enjoying the attention they are receiving from their owners, who are at home all the time. However, it won't last, and sooner or later, things will go back to the way they were, and people will start going to work and be more absent from home.
Advisors from Best Friends Animal Society, an animal welfare organization, are advising people to start preparing their pets for the time when they will not be at home all day long.
Some pets might have separation issues. They may express their anxiety by howling, barking, or whining when you leave, scratching and chewing the doors, or showing a change in appetite…
Janelle Metiva, CPDT-KA, a dog behavior consultant at Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles, created a strategy to aid pet owners in preparing for that transition:
“Create a safe, comfortable place where they can have peaceful, relaxing alone time. This could be a crate or a separate room; just make sure it’s the quietest part of the house.
Provide them with enrichment that can be enjoyed independently, such as hidden treats in boxes, food puzzles, stuffed Kongs, etc.
Play soothing music such as reggae, smooth jazz, or classical, or play the TV or radio to stations like the BBC or NPR while you’re gone to keep ...[truncated]
