Disapproving Dogs Are Absolutely Hysterical
Dogs are usually the internet’s favorite soft-focus subject, all floppy ears, bright eyes, and perfect timing for a cute photo. But every now and then, they look less like cuddly pets and more like tiny critics with fur.
That is exactly the charm of the #DisapprovingDogChallenge, a viral Facebook trend where owners share their pets’ most judgmental expressions. The result is a collection of dogs that seem deeply unimpressed, and somehow even funnier because of it.
These photos capture the best kind of canine side-eye, and the grumpier they look, the better they get.

But can dogs actually feel disapproval? Or is that just the way we interpret it sometimes? Wag! states that disapproval is an emotion most people agree dogs can feel.
"This means they can not only sense your disapproval, but they can also let you know when they are unhappy with something."
"Dogs are able to experience a wide range of emotions, very similar to humans. While they may not have the capability to feel some of the deeper emotions we can, the fact of the matter is that they are more like us than we thought."
Wag! also states that "in order to truly understand how dogs feel and what disapproval is like for them, we must view dogs as we do young children. It is believed that dogs have the same emotional capacity as a two to two-and-a-half-year-old human, which can help explain their actions and reactions!"
That explanation only makes the side-eye funnier.

It’s the same “there must be a reason” vibe as owners trying to decode why their dog seems upset for no apparent reason.

Some of these dogs look like they have very strong opinions.
