Valiant Cats Being Complete Heroes Will Make You Squeeze Yours Over and Over Again, Even Though They Definitely Do Not Want You To
In these stories, that instinct turns into full-on hero mode, with cats warning families about danger, protecting babies, and stepping in at exactly the right moment.
From house fires to snakes to medical emergencies, each rescue shows a different side of feline loyalty. The people in these stories did not expect their pets to become lifesavers, but that is exactly what happened.
These 17 cats proved they were brave when it counted most, and a few of them pulled off truly unbelievable saves.
Let's roll, y'all.

1. Sweet lil' Pudding Pie saved his owner while she was having a seizure.
Pudding was adopted on a whim by a woman named Amy Jung from Wisconsin. She visited the shelter with her son. After tucking herself in for the night, her body began to seize from diabetic shock.
Little Pudding stepped onto the center of her chest and bit down on her nose to wake her up enough to call for help. Pudding then ran into Amy's son's room and jumped on his bed to wake him up. Amy saw doctors afterward, and they told her that she could have suffered from an irreversible coma if her cat Pudding hadn't gone to such great lengths to save her.

2. This fuzzy kitty went full-on beast mode to save her little human from a dog.
A 4-year-old boy from the Triantafilo family was minding his business riding his bike outside in the driveway when suddenly, a dog from the neighbor's yard ran over and, for whatever reason, began to drag him by the leg.
The boy's cat immediately sprang into action, racing toward the dog and ultimately attacking him, even chasing him away so that she could check on her little human boy.

3. Masha saved a baby's life.
Masha the kitty cat came across an abandoned baby that had been placed in a box and left on the snowy roads of Russia. Without a thought, she instantly climbed into the box, cuddling the baby and keeping him warm.
She meowed until she finally got the attention of people walking by the duo. Eventually, the baby was taken to a local hospital and was found to be in good health, all thanks to Ms. Masha.

4. Shelly the cat saved her owner from an unwanted visitor.
One night, 81-year-old Tennessee resident Jimmie Nelson heard his cat ruffling around. Although he thought it was strange, he assumed she was merely chasing a mouse. To his surprise, a few days later, a dead copperhead snake was found underneath a table.
The body had claw marks all over it, indicating that Shelly had actually killed the venomous snake and then simply left it there to show off to her human!

5. Momma kitty Scarlett saved all of her babies from perishing in a fire.
As any caring mother would, Scarlett stayed inside a burning building in New York City just to rescue every single one of her baby kittens. All five of them survived, six including Scarlett.
The news took note of this and eventually led to national attention and even multiple books being written. She lived to be 13 years old, always in a loving home. She left behind the sweetest legacy.

6. Cats sure have a sixth sense; this one alerted her family about a fire.
At nearly 3:30 in the morning, a Clairmont family was woken by their cat, pulling and biting at their arm.
The owner woke up and made the awful discovery that her house was indeed on fire, and with her precious cat's warning, she was able to get her husband and two children out just in time. Firefighters later saved their second cat after arriving at the scene.
And if you’re still squeezing over heroics, this heroic cat stopped a baby from falling down a steep stairway.
7. Little Gizmo helped prevent a house from catching fire.
Someone foolishly left an oven mitt on top of a toaster; naturally, it caught fire. Little Gizmo meowed into her owner's ear until he finally woke up and realized there was a fire.
Meanwhile, he had no idea that by waking when he did, he prevented the fire from spreading throughout his large home.

8. No real threat when Schnautzie is around.
Schnautzie woke up her owner, Trudy Guy, in the deep darkness of the night. She immediately heard a roaring noise coming from the bathroom. Upon investigating, she found a broken gas pipe. After moving quickly and getting out of there, the firefighters told her that she and her entire house could have blown to shreds if she had done nothing.
As the fuzzball deserved, Schnautzie was awarded a Purple Paw Award by the Great Falls Animal Foundation during one of their annual Fur Balls.

9. This cat is where it's at; so intelligent that he called 911.
Sometime in 2006, a 911 call was received from Gary Rosheisen's home. The catch? No one seemed to be on the other line. So, of course, they went to his apartment to assess the situation and, to their dismay, found Rosheisen on the floor, having fallen from his wheelchair and unable to get up.
Then they saw the precious cat, Tommy, sitting near the phone, which had a speed dial for the police. The only explanation was that Tommy had hit the button.

10. Diabetic saved by a cat.
Claire Wood is one of many who live every day with diabetes. One night, she collapsed in the bathroom due to low blood sugar. Her cat, Charley, almost immediately ran straight toward the bedroom and began pestering Wood's husband (who was an obvious deep sleeper) until he finally woke up.
Reaching for his wife, he noticed she wasn't there. He then got up and followed Charley into the bathroom, finding his wife and giving her an injection of glucagon, saving her.

11. Oreo the cat saved his beloved girl from a deadly snake.
Jaiden, who was 10 years old at the time, was playing outside when she came across a diamondback rattlesnake.
Terrified, she ran inside, while Oreo fought off the snake, ultimately suffering a bite on one of his legs. But as luck would have it, he was saved in the nick of time, being rushed to the vet and treated, making a full recovery.

12. Major Tom measured up perfectly to his name when he saved his owner.
One night, when his owner, Sailor Grant McDonald, was in a deep sleep on his boat, Major Tom headbutted him until he woke up.
It was then he noticed the ship was quickly filling up with water. McDonald had enough time to set off an emergency beacon and jump into his lifeboat with his kitty in his arms, where they were then rescued by a Chinese ship.

13. Kitty-cat Tom was a legitimate war hero.
A military conflict in 1854, later called the Crimean War, saw a kitty-cat by the name of Tom lead starving British and French soldiers to food stores, thus saving their lives. "Animals have an innate ability to sense human emotions and can provide profound comfort during challenging times," states Dr. Lori Buckley, a clinical psychologist specializing in human-animal interactions. Afterward, he was taken back to England and lived a long and happy life. But that's not all; after he passed, he was stuffed, and you can even visit him at the National Army Museum in London.

14. A heart attack? Not on Cleo's watch!
Intuitive Cleo suddenly noticed that her owner was ill. She acted quickly, running up the stairs in a flash and not stopping until she got the full attention of her other owner, who went looking for her upstairs and grabbed her as soon as she found her.
When she got upstairs, her eyes darted to her immobile husband, who was on the edge of the bed. She acted quickly as well, rushing him to the nearest hospital, where she learned that he was having a heart attack. Luckily for all involved, he made it through okay.

15. Bully smully, not around territorial Smudge.
Smudge's owner, Sarah Fenton, was happily making tea one day when she noticed some boys approaching her young son, pushing him and harassing him.
Immediately, Smudge leaped into action. She ran up to them, hissing, and even jumped on one of the boys. Obviously, she caused them to leave. Take note of Smudge's zero-tolerance policy and give her a firm round of applause.

16. Tom sensed cancer in his owner.
Sue McKenzie's cat Tom began needlessly pawing at her neck and meowing ever so loudly as he did so. At first, she thought something might be wrong with him, but after taking him to the vet, he was declared fine. However, Tom's veterinarian suggested that maybe his odd behavior was linked to her health instead.
Naturally, Sue went to see her own doctor, where she discovered she had Hodgkin's lymphoma. After her surgery and subsequent chemotherapy, she was given the all-clear, all thanks to her precious Tom!

17. Lastly, meet Simon, who helped the British Navy.
Simon became the only cat to ever receive the Dickin Medal and was also the only animal to ever earn the Dickin distinction. He was aboard the British ship Amethyst when it was suddenly attacked. Not only did he survive, but he then went on to rid the ship entirely of rats, which was crucial for protecting their dwindling food supply.
He was, of course, given well-deserved credit for lifting the crew's morale on the ship, especially as many of them were understandably traumatized after the attack took several of their crewmates' lives. Sadly, he passed away due to a virus merely days before he was to be awarded his medal of honor. Even still, his legacy lives on.

Give it up for our feline heroes.
