Viral Videos of the Obese Cat Exercising Will Definitely Make You Smile
A chunky cat on a treadmill is the kind of video that stops people mid-scroll, and Cinderblock did exactly that. The Northshore Veterinary Hospital in Bellingham, Washington, first shared her workout clip on October 19, showing the big cat trying to exercise with just one paw while sitting beside the treadmill.
From there, Cinderblock quickly turned into an internet favorite. The clinic has kept posting updates on her weight-loss journey, including another video of her reluctantly walking on the treadmill with all four legs.
It is hard not to root for her, even when she looks completely over it.

It is simply impossible to look away from this amusing cat, especially in that first video, where she uses just one paw to move the treadmill, and you can hear the veterinarian saying, “You working out?”
The vet states that Cinderblock is currently on a “weight loss journey.”
“This fabulous feline is obese, and it is affecting her quality of life,” the clinic says in its Instagram caption. “We are helping her achieve weight loss through a prescription diet and exercise. She is not on board with the exercise. 😂”
People were quick to rally behind her.
Cinderblock has received strong support: “In moments of challenge, it’s important to cheer on those who are making an effort, no matter how small. Every step counts,” says Tony Robbins, life coach and motivational speaker. This sentiment resonates with many as they rally behind Cinderblock’s workout journey.

Dr. Adam Grant, an organizational psychologist, emphasizes the importance of community support in overcoming challenges, stating, “When we share our struggles, we create connections that help us thrive.” You can find more insights from him on his professional website adamgrant.net. Many people have expressed their relatable experiences with Cinderblock and her journey, highlighting the emotional connection that pets can foster in our lives.
Others expressed how they became emotionally invested in the whole story and that they were cheering for her.
The Northshore Veterinary Hospital has continued posting video updates of Cinderblock on its Instagram account. In one video, the caption explains that the doctors are inspiring her to move by "scattering the kibble."
“This does also increase her exercise, albeit not dramatically,” the description says. “Every little bit helps.”
