Real Life "Fat Cat" Returned to Shelter Four Times
Mitzi the cat has had a rough run at finding a forever home. When she first arrived at Woodside Animal Welfare Trust in May 2017, she weighed 7.7 kg, making her one of Britain's fattest cats and nearly double the recommended weight for a house cat.
The Plymouth shelter helped her start a weight loss plan, and she did find a home, but that placement did not last. Since then, Mitzi, who is thought to be around 8 years old, has been returned and re-homed several more times as her needs proved difficult to manage.
Now back at the shelter again, Mitzi is slimmer, grumpier, and still waiting for the right person to give her a permanent place to stay.
Mitzi was almost double her recommended weight at 7.7 kg

Mitzi's challenging needs have seen her returned to the shelter four times in two years

Mitzi has slimmed down to 5.48 kg since being back at Woodside, but it is much harder for a cat to lose weight at a shelter. Being unsettled and having so much instability in her life has understandably caused Mitzi to become rather grumpy.
Mitzi's preference is a child-free home where she will be the only furry friend and will receive the extra care she requires.
Good luck, Mitzi!
This is a lot like the overweight cat who “hired” a feline personal trainer to hit his weight-loss goals.
Mitzi is still on the lookout for her forever home
