These Topiary Cats Are Absolutely Incredible, and We'll Take 10 of Them
Some viral art starts with a sketch, some starts with a camera, and this one started with a bush that looked suspiciously like a cat. Richard Saunders, a surrealist artist, noticed the resemblance while looking back at a garden photo, then turned his Russian Blue, Tolly, into the star of a growing series of giant topiary cat scenes.
He photographed Tolly in a sleeping pose, layered the image into the original landscape, and posted the result online. The response was immediate, and Saunders kept going, placing the oversized cat into more and more unexpected settings.
Now the topiary cat has a whole little world of its own.
This is the first one he created, based on a photo of Hall Barn, Beaconsfield.
Someone reposted the photo without Richard's watermark, claiming it to be a real image, and it went viral!
