Ten-Year-Old Shelter Cat Finds A Loving Home Again
Gremlin did not exactly have the easiest start, but this ten-year-old shelter cat still managed to land on his paws. With only two teeth and a grumpy face that made him stand out, he could have been overlooked, yet one fosterer saw something worth saving.
That fosterer was Gabriela Middlebrook, a cat lover from Toronto who decided Gremlin was coming home with her. What started as a foster arrangement quickly turned into something more permanent, and the little cat who hid at first slowly began to settle in.
Now Gremlin has a new family, a softer routine, and a story that is hard not to root for.
Meet Gremlin, from Quebec
Enter Gabriela Middlebrook, a cat fosterer from Toronto.
She knew from the moment she saw the grumpy-looking cat that she had to take him home and care for him. People tend not to adopt older cats, but Gabriela decided to do so on the spot.
Rather than asking her partner for permission, Gabriela chose to take the cat home and ask for forgiveness instead!
That decision changed everything for Gremlin.
That “no one wanted him” vibe is also why this transformed ex-feral tomcat became a “Mama Bear” foster for kittens, see what happened.
Look at the difference a month has made!
Speaking to lovemeow.com, Gabriela said:
"It's so wonderful to see him grow, change, and trust us more and more every day. We call him 'Gramplin' sometimes because of his grumpy expression, but he's anything but sweet."

While he hid for the first few weeks, he has now started sleeping on the bed.
Gremlin has now been adopted into Gabriela's family permanently and has loving siblings. According to Dr. Madeline Levine, a renowned child psychologist, "Pets can play a crucial role in a child's emotional development, providing companionship and teaching responsibility." Gremlin really did find his second chance.
Gremlin’s second chance feels similar to the senior cat who got a “fospice home” after an elderly owner was forced to give it up, read more here.
