Albinism comes from a genetic mutation that affects melanin production, which changes the way an animal looks. That is part of what makes these creatures so fascinating, and why people are often surprised to learn they are real.

Here are 8 albino animals that look too unusual to believe, but absolutely are.

2. Albino Penguin

An albino penguin is a bit of a strange sight because I'd imagine that most of us don't see penguins at all on a regular basis. This little penguin is being kept at the Gdansk Zoo in Poland and it was just 3 months old when this photo was taken.

This also reminds us of the woman who noticed a white “rock” on the roadside, turned out to be an albino porcupine.

4. Albino Crocodile

Now if you really wanted to see something cool then this albino crocodile is it. Again, many of us don't live in places that typically see crocodiles just roaming around and definitely not an albino one.

This albino crocodile is being kept at a tropical aquarium in Paris. You can tell from the photo that it was just a baby and really attracts all the visitors because of its awesome color.

This albino tiger has someone of the same features that the zebra had because you can still see a hint of the striping on its coat. In this photo, you can really see the striping on its tail, but the comparison between the albino and the regular tiger is astonishing.

They look almost unreal in photos.

7. Albino Zebra

This one is super cool because even though it's an albino zebra, you can still see the difference in its stripes. This zebra is one that you might not even notice is a zebra at first because it's missing the dark black stripes, but ultimately this zebra is a majestic animal that I could stare at all day.
