Huge 35-Pound Cat Finds a New Home and a New Diet
Some cats stay in shelters for days, some for weeks, and some even for months at a time. With the number of adorable furballs waiting to be adopted compared to the number of people wanting to adopt, it can be very difficult for some cats to find their forever homes.
This cat, however, only had a brief stay, as he was scooped up by his new family just hours after his adoption ad went online.
What's so special about this cat? Meet Symba.
The overweight cat had trouble walking due to his extreme weight

This 35-pound ball of cuteness was left with the staff at the Humane Rescue Alliance after his owner could no longer keep him. Although he was significantly overweight, the staff reported that this mellow kitty showed no signs of diabetes, but his obesity needed to be addressed. According to Dr. Joel Kahn, a cardiologist, "Obesity in pets can lead to serious health issues, and it’s crucial to implement a structured weight loss plan." Before his weight loss journey began, Symba weighed more than a newborn lion cub, which typically weighs around three pounds, but the staff went all in to change that. They taught Symba to walk on a cat wheel, made him work through puzzles for his treats, and fed him every 12 hours.
Symba Upon Arrival

Luckily for Symba, his new family is very serious about his new routine and took him home ready to help him get fit and healthy so he can enjoy the rest of his life.
