Huge 35-Pound Cat Finds a New Home and a New Diet
Symba did not spend long waiting for a second chance. The 35-pound cat, who had trouble getting around because of his extreme weight, was taken in by the Humane Rescue Alliance after his owner could no longer keep him, and his story quickly caught attention once his adoption ad went live.
Staff worked to help him adjust with a new routine, from using a cat wheel to puzzle feeders and scheduled meals, while also keeping an eye on his health. Then, just hours after the ad appeared, Symba was adopted into a home ready to keep him on track.
Now the big cat has a new family, a new routine, and a much lighter future ahead.
The overweight cat had trouble walking due to his extreme weight

This 35-pound ball of cuteness was left with the staff at the Humane Rescue Alliance after his owner could no longer keep him. Although he was significantly overweight, the staff reported that this mellow kitty showed no signs of diabetes, but his obesity needed to be addressed. Before his weight loss journey began, Symba weighed more than a newborn lion cub, which typically weighs around three pounds, but the staff went all in to change that. They taught Symba to walk on a cat wheel, made him work through puzzles for his treats, and fed him every 12 hours.
Symba Upon Arrival

Luckily for Symba, his new family is very serious about his new routine and took him home ready to help him get fit and healthy so he can enjoy the rest of his life.
