Imaginative Artist Creates Relatable Comics About Animals Trying to Make It in the Human World, and They're Brilliant
Yannis turns everyday human awkwardness into something you can actually laugh at, then adds fur, feathers, and a whole lot of “wait, what?” energy. His comics about animals trying to make it in the human world hit that sweet spot where you recognize the vibe immediately, even if you never expected a raccoon to be involved.
It starts with the kind of situation that already feels doomed, like a blind date that refuses to end well, then spirals into crumb-covered chaos, epic fails, and the kind of table manners that get absolutely demolished. A girl has to deal with being “tough being a girl,” humans are out there with their burnouts, and somehow the whole thing turns into a mystery that nobody can solve, not even Bob.
And by the time the perfect date turns into an awkward disaster, you realize the animals are not the weird part, the context is.
1. Blind dates never end well.

2. All hail the lady with the crumbs!

3. Well, that's awkward.

4. He'll grow out of it.

5. Oh dear.

6. Those darn humans and their burnouts.

7. It's a big adjustment.

8. That's usually how it goes.

9. Oh, Bob.

10. It's a mystery.

11. It's tough being a girl.

12. The perfect date.

13. An epic fail.

14. Yikes!

15. Which one came first?

That blind date never ends well, but somehow it gets worse right after the lady with the crumbs walks in like it’s totally normal.
Also, this reminds me of the man who experimented with squid ink and regretted the curiosity.
Then comes the awkward shift, where “He’ll grow out of it” sounds comforting until the next scene says, “Oh dear.”
Once those darn humans and their burnouts enter the picture, the whole thing turns into a big adjustment that no one asked for.
And just when you think it’s the perfect date, the epic fail lands, leaving you wondering which one came first, the mess or the mystery.
16. That's a long day!

17. Table manners aren't all they're cracked up to be.

18. It's funny because it's true.

19. Who doesn't love some new music?

20. Okay, but who is it?
Yannis uses his comics to highlight some of the strange and wonderful things humans say and do, but animals can also behave oddly. He says, "If you put them in a human context, it can become quite funny." Fans of Yannis's work certainly agree.
Yannis would love to reach a larger audience and perhaps even be featured in newspapers someday. He says he will continue to create comics as long as he enjoys drawing.

The animals are trying their best, but the human world keeps serving them Yikes.
