These Shelter Dogs Are Sticking Together in the Pound in Hopes That Someone Will Adopt Them Together
Sometimes in the world of rescue, two animals become inseparable and need to find a home together. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's usually as precious as it sounds.
Enter Bonnie and Clyde, two friends who were found roaming the streets of Arizona. When the strays were brought into Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC), it became clear very quickly to the staff that these dogs were friends. Yet even then, the staff was surprised to see Clyde, the smaller dog, on top of Bonnie—literally just hanging out on top of her!
MCACC’s public information officer, Jose Santiago, told The Dodo:
Initially, we thought it was a fluke, but it started happening a lot. Now it is unusual not to see them that way. They are as bonded as you can imagine.
The two friends play together, hang out together, and even sleep together in a spooning position. Santiago believes it packs a powerful emotional punch:
It speaks volumes about the trust and bond they have. It’s comforting to know that they are bonded so strongly to alleviate any stress, but it also stresses the importance of them going home together.
1. Bonnie and Clyde
"People, let me tell you about my BEST friend!" They're so cute.
2. Inseparable
Even in adoption.
3. How Does Bonnie Feel?
Why, she doesn't seem to have a care in the world as long as little Clyde is by her side—or on top of her, taking a ride.
4. Not Just a Fluke!
They may have thought it was a one-time thing, but the staff quickly learned that this is just how these pals like to chill.
5. "They Are as Bonded as You Can Imagine."
The bonded pair is surely... two of a kind.
6. Sleepy Snuggles
We weren't kidding when we said they spoon to sleep at night. How cute is this!?
7. Of Course the Internet Loves This.
Everyone is gushing over the adorableness.
8. Bonded Is THE Best!
This user is definitely not wrong!
9. Some Folks Even Prayed for the Dogs!
It's nice to see that people understand the importance of keeping bonded animals together in adoption.
10. Fret Not...
This user is worried they wouldn't go home together, but we don't think the shelter would ever separate the dynamic duo!
Adopting animals is such a rewarding experience. Nothing is quite like the love you can give a rescue animal. This is also (maybe even especially) true for rescue animals that have some sort of deformity or special needs.
