First Cat In The World Is Fitted With Four Bionic Paws
A cat in Russia who lost all four limbs to frostbite is now making headlines for an unusual first. Ryzhik is believed to be the first cat in the world fitted with four bionic paws, and he is already learning how to walk again.
The abandoned cat had all of his paws amputated after gangrene set in from severe frostbite in Tomsk, Siberia. Instead of being put to sleep, he was taken in by a new owner who chose to give him a chance.
The titanium implants were fitted at a clinic in Novosibirsk using 3D modeling and computer tomography, and Ryzhik's recovery has been closely watched ever since. Here's how the story unfolded.
“The limbs have fully connected with the skin and bone. The part of the limb that goes inside the body is spongy, the bone tissue grows inside it," he continued.

The result has people talking for all the right reasons.
This is similar to the tabby cat that fought to survive after a good Samaritan rescued it from freezing snow.
“We achieved a good result."

Ryzhik, which means redhead or ginger in Russian, has not been trying to remove the limbs, which is a great sign, indicating he is content with his new mobility.

How amazing is that?
