Cat Photography Series Helps Remove The "Crazy Cat Lady" Stigma And Promote Cat Adoption
Cat lovers have heard the stereotype for years, but BriAnne Wills is giving it a much softer, more stylish spin. The Brooklyn photographer created Girls and Their Cats to celebrate women and their pets, while also pushing back on the old “crazy cat lady” label.
What started as a photo project has grown into a large portrait series featuring women from across the U.S. and the cats they adore. Along the way, it has turned adoption, companionship, and cat ownership into something a lot more visible and a lot less mocked.
With more than 300 women photographed so far, the series keeps growing, and each portrait adds another reason to rethink the stereotype.
