This Cat's Love For Peaches Will Absolutely Make Your Day
Ozzy is not your average summer cat. While most pets ignore the fruit bowl, this 5-year-old tabby has turned peaches into his favorite nap spot, and his family cannot get enough of it.
The Coutrée family says Ozzy nuzzles the fruit, uses it like a pillow, and even guards it like it belongs to him. What started as a cute seasonal habit has become a running family joke, especially once his peach obsession began showing up in photos and videos.
Now his fuzzy little routine is winning over the internet too, and the peach season drama is only getting better. Read on.
"He was introduced to them during the first peach season our family had him," Lydia said. "He found them on the table and immediately started rubbing on them the first time he was around them, so we think it's probably the feeling of the peaches that he likes."
Ozzy's owners tend to leave their peaches on a sheet of newspaper so that they can ripen and become juicy. This gives Ozzy the perfect opportunity to snuggle up to the fuzzy peaches, and if his owners don't want to clean their peaches of cat hair, they have to go to extreme measures.
"My mom once put the peaches in the basement to keep them away from Ozzy," Lydia said. "But he still found them and left a cat-sized hole in the middle of what were previously neat rows of peaches."
Lorraine and her mother were volunteering at the Harbor Humane Society, and even though they weren't looking to adopt, they decided to have a look at the kitties who were up for adoption.
But when Lorraine saw Ozzy, she immediately fell in love with him, and that is how he got adopted in the fall of 2013 into a loving new home.
"I saw Ozzy in the main lobby at the very beginning (his name was Blaze at the time) and couldn't keep my mind off of him," Lorraine explained. "When I finally got to meet him right before we were leaving, he just completely melted in my arms. Mom couldn't say no, partially because I was begging and partially because it was 'Free Kitten Friday,' and we brought him home!"

That adoption story came with one very memorable bonus.
Even though Ozzy is all about love and snuggles, he doesn't seem to love any other fruit except peaches.
"Ozzy hates clementines," Lydia said. "He smells them, makes a face, turns up his nose, and runs away. Ozzy doesn't cuddle any other fruit - just peaches."
Since the Coutrée family learned of Ozzy's love affair with peaches, it has become a family joke and a source of amusement. Ozzy's mom and dad will also brighten their daughters' days by sending them pictures of Ozzy snuggling with his favorite fruit in a family group chat.
Lydia decided she just couldn't keep the hilarious and adorable photos to herself anymore, so she decided to post them on Twitter.
In just a few days, her tweet went viral with over 100,000 likes and over 60,000 retweets! But Ozzy doesn't really care about any of that; he is just concerned about the peach season that is coming to an end.
"I'm just glad the internet loves him as much as we do," Lydia added. "And perhaps we'll buy him some out-of-season peaches to keep him company."
