Cat Tries To Get Attention By Smiling At Everyone Who Visits Shelter
Nala is the kind of shelter cat people remember long after they leave. The friendly stray from the Netherlands was found heavily pregnant, rushed into emergency care, and ended up losing one of her kittens during a difficult delivery.
After that, Nala and her surviving kitten were taken in by Dierenbescherming, where the little family slowly recovered. The kitten has already found a forever home, and Nala is still waiting, greeting every visitor with a grin that makes her impossible to ignore.
Her smile may be unusual, but it has made her a favorite at the shelter, and she is hoping the right person notices her next.
"She gets hypoallergenic food and is doing much better. She might always need this special food," says Ineke Kamps, a volunteer at the shelter.
Whenever Nala spots a visitor, she gets excited and starts meowing for their attention. She ensures that every visitor takes notice of her by standing up against the glass with her big grin.
Nala loves human contact and is happiest when she is around people and can be smothered in cuddles.
This feels like the same kind of turnaround as the ailing cat in the medical ward who radiated joy after her rescue.

"The perfect home for her would be a house with a (fenced) garden, with humans who are home a lot and who don't have a problem with her special diet," Ineke said. "She is okay being placed with other cats, but she will need individual feeding."
Nala can't wait to find her perfect forever home, but for now, she continues to bring joy to everyone who comes to visit with that beautiful smile of hers!
