When Simon Met Theo: A Love Story Between Two Cats
Simon, a resident cat at the Crumbs & Whiskers cafe in Los Angeles, was never the social type, until a cat across the street completely changed his routine. What followed was a very public feline crush, complete with window pacing, chirping, and a homemade sign to get the neighbors’ attention.
Now the two cats have a neighborhood love story that keeps getting bigger, and Simon is still waiting to see if Theo will finally come around.
It was pretty clear that Simon was smitten with his feline neighbor.
The other cat never really looked at Simon or paid attention to him, so Simon would jump up and down in the windowsill to try to get his attention.
So, Mackenzie decided it was time to step in as a wingman and help poor Simon out.
Taking inspiration from Taylor Swift's 'You Belong With Me' video, Mackenzie taped a cute sign to her window on Simon's behalf. Not long after, the neighbors responded with their own sign.
They opened the window, introduced themselves, and I told them that Simon always waits for Theo. They said they always see Simon but didn't know what to call him, so they've been calling him Chester.
This feels like the brazen neighbor who tried to “adopt” Severus, leaving dad worried after unsettling messages.
While Simon appears to be head over heels in love, Theo is still insisting on playing hard to get.
When Simon sees Theo, he chirps at the window and paces the windowsill. Theo, on the other hand, glances at Simon maybe twice and then continues to look in the opposite direction.
After sharing the love story on Twitter, Mackenzie's post received over 200,000 likes and nearly 100,000 retweets.
That post clearly struck a nerve online.
"They opened the window, introduced themselves, and I told them that Simon always waits for Theo," Coffman said. "They said they always see Simon but didn't know what to call him, so they've been calling him Chester."
Coffman and her neighbors recently organized for the two lovebirds to finally meet face to face.
