Runners Give Up Seconds In Race To Pet This Corgi
Some runners chase a personal best, and some get distracted by a corgi in the middle of the course. In New Orleans, that second group made the race a lot more memorable when Colin and his dog, Max, showed up to cheer on friends from their gym during a 10km run.
Max had been out all day and looked a little tired, so Colin picked him up halfway through the event. That simple move turned into a scene that had runners slowing down, smiling, and stopping for a quick pet.
By the time the pack passed Max, the race had become something else entirely.
Max the Corgi!

"The entire time, he got belly pets,"
Jacobs said.
"It was funny to see people basically add seconds to their final times just for a pet!"
It’s the same kind of chaos as Ludivine the Bloodhound escaping for a bathroom break, then placing 7th.
Though each runner still had some distance to go to finish the race after meeting Max, it's fair to say that, in a way, they had already won.
Max the Corgi’s “belly pets” remind us of a shelter dog beating nine years of rejection with nonstop smiles.
