Dakota Fanning Makes Sure She Always Has A Memorial Of Her Late Dog With Her
Pets are so much more than pets. They are our friends, confidants, support, and comfort.
And losing them means losing all those things. Anyone who has ever owned a pet understands how devastating it is to lose one.
Despite the grief that comes with having to say goodbye, the joy that pets provide to your life will always surpass it. Sure, your dog might eat your slippers now and then, and your cat might puke on the couch now and then, but these are minor inconveniences (depending on how costly your couch is) compared to the joy that pets bring us.
Their passing leaves a hole in our hearts that can't easily be filled. Some people honor the memory of their late friends by creating memorabilia to always have on them. pieces of jewelry are one of them.
Dakota Fanning's first dog, Lewellen, was her best friend. When the dog died, Dakota wanted to do something special to not just honor her beautiful friend's memory, but also to make sure she was with her wherever she went.
That's why she now wears a necklace that has some of her late dog's fur. Lewellen was a sweet little fluffy white dog that wore her fur in a small ponytail on her head most of the time.
And Dakota absolutely adored her. She still does.
Take a look at this heartwarming story:
Watch the show here:
Fanning once shared a photo of herself sitting in a chair with dirty paws on Instagram, writing, “Thought I would share my perfect pup, Lewellen, with you all.”
Another sweet photo shows the pair cuddling in bed and is captioned, “Home with my cotton ball.” Her fans loved both of the pics so much and seemed incredibly supportive of Fanning and Lewellen's bond, commenting things like, “The classiest dog ever,” and, “Awe, that’s so cute!”
“It’s a shrine to Lewellen,” Dakota Fanning said about her necklace.

The pendant serves as a constant reminder of how important Lewellen was to Fanning. Last year, she and her sister, Elle Fanning, launched their own production business, Lewellen Pictures.
Michelle Pfeiffer, who was also on the show with Fanning, added to the topic by describing the many dogs she's had and loved who have died away, her desire to acquire a new puppy, and her current pet, a cat named Bella, whom she characterized as "a really wonderful cat."

Kelly Clarkson also spoke up, expressing her affection for her pets and complimenting Fanning on her lovely necklace. It mixes in well with the rest of Fanning's ensemble and appears to be simply another lovely piece of jewelry.
Unless you asked, you'd never know the tale behind it. Fanning's best friend, Lewellen, was a constant in her life, and the necklace is a way for her to remember her.
This is truly a wonderful way to honor a pet. And our pets deserve to be honored, don't you agree?
