Golden Retriever Has A Funny Way Of Making His Little Brother Behave
Sara Morrow’s Oregon home is full of animals, and somehow one golden retriever keeps the whole place running. Between five cats, 21 chickens, two pigs, and a rabbit, there is always something for Murphy to keep an eye on.
Murphy is especially good at keeping the peace, whether he is chasing birds, swimming, hiking, or snuggling with the family cat. Then Archie, a spirited English setter puppy, arrived and gave his gentle routine a whole new challenge.
Now Murphy has a funny new way of handling his little brother, and it is equal parts sweet and ridiculous. Read on.

But when the new family member arrived, Murphy’s job of keeping the peace got a bit trickier. His mom brought home a spirited English setter pup named Archie, and he was quite a handful. However, this quality made Murphy love him even more.
“Murphy and Archie hit it off right away,” Morrow says. “Archie follows him everywhere, and Murphy plays hall monitor. If Archie is playing too rough with one of the cats, Murphy steps in the middle, lays down, and lets Archie have at him.”
That is when Murphy’s babysitting style gets especially funny.

Every so often, Murphy has to intervene when his little brother’s energy levels get out of control. He does this in a hilarious way, by putting Archie's head in his mouth. This is completely safe and painless; golden retrievers have “soft mouths” and can carry raw eggs without breaking them.
Love knows no bounds, just like this golden retriever adopting a dad role for four rescue bunnies.

Their mom wasn’t worried at all when she saw Murphy doing this. “Murphy is gentle with every animal we have,” Morrow explained. “He’s never shown any aggression.”
Archie has grown since then, and his head is now too big for Murphy’s mouth, but his big brother is still making sure he is on his best behavior.
Murphy still knows how to keep Archie in line.

“Murphy is the gentle protector of all,” Morrow says, “and Archie is definitely the little brother who tries to get away with everything.”
