Woman Catches Corgi Having Nightly Secret Meetings With The Neighbor
Zola, a 2-year-old corgi, has a nightly routine that her owner cannot quite ignore. Every evening, she heads to the fence to meet the neighbor's dog, Rocky, and the two seem determined to keep their little ritual going.
Haley Smith has watched the meetings unfold from her yard, where Zola gets excited, jumps, and tries to close the distance between them. The setup is simple, but the way the two dogs keep trying to connect makes the whole thing strangely charming.
Now Zola is still working out how to get to Rocky, and that unfinished business is part of the fun. Read on.
Meet Zola, the 2-year-old Corgi.
She thinks she's a big dog trapped in a small dog's body. Her short legs aren't a hindrance at all to getting what she wants — that is, to play with the neighbor's dog.
Zola's owner, Haley Smith, just noticed this about three weeks ago. She would make a beeline for the fence whenever she went out into their yard.

Zola is starting to get overexcited.
She started really going crazy and barking at the fence, and we weren't sure why. She would sit by the door, and when we let her out, she would sprint to the fence and start jumping.
We thought it was odd. - Haley Smith
Zola's owner began to wonder what kept her excited about the cinder block barrier. It was not until she saw the face of a sweet black-and-white spotted dog looking over from the other side of the fence.

No matter how high she tried to jump, Zola could not reach the dog on the other side of the fence.
We peeked outside, and lo and behold, she was just trying to talk to the big paws and head that were peering over at her. She really wants to get to Rocky.

That fence is doing a lot of work here.
This is like the annoyed resident who told the neighbor’s noisy dog to “shut up”.
Though they have yet to meet physically without any barrier, check this video to see more of this nightly affair.
But Zola doesn’t seem to like that their meetings are a little one-sided. One theory I have is that she's a little jealous that Rocky can see into her yard, but she can't see into his.
She probably wants to know how to get to him so they can sniff and play. - Haley Smith
This is Rocky, the neighbor's dog.
Rocky is very gentle. At first, he barked back at her.
Now, he jumps up and just watches her quietly. He seems very curious about her. - Haley Smith

Zola's ultimate challenge is to reach Rocky, and each time she meets him, she always tries to figure out how to get to him. Soon, they will be able to meet each other.
Can you imagine what the two would be like if they had the chance to meet and greet without any barrier at all? As her owner gets excited about that, we can be very sure that Zola and Rocky are even more excited.
For now, the fence keeps the mystery alive.
