Kitty Called Kefir aka "The Gentle Giant" Is An Incredibly Beautiful Maine Coon
Kefir is the kind of cat that makes people stop and stare. This massive Maine Coon from Russia has the fluffy coat, bushy tail, and calm presence that earned the breed its "gentle giant" nickname, but his size still surprises almost everyone who sees him.
He lives with his owner, Yuliya, who brought him home from a cattery and fell for his white fur right away. Now 21 months old and weighing about 26.5 pounds, Kefir has become a full-fledged family member, complete with a seat at the table and a very particular taste in food.
And if his photos are any clue, he is only getting more impressive.
Meet Kefir.

He is one fluffy giant cat, but his owner says that he could grow even more.
“It’s normal for Maine Coons to keep growing until they are 3 years old,” said Yuliya.

At 1 year and 9 months old, he currently weighs about 26.5 pounds.

Kefir is already big enough to turn heads, and the shedding probably comes with the territory.

Kefir's maintenance is generally the same as with any other cat. The only difficulty may be his shedding because such a huge, fluffy cat certainly sheds a lot more than a regular cat.

Yuliya says people usually assume that Kefir is a dog, so it's funny to see their reaction when they realize he's actually a cat.
“It’s funny how others react when they see the cat because he is huge. Many people think that he’s a dog at first.”
