Couple Comes Up With Smart Plan To Find Their Lost Dog After It Ran Off In Fear

Losing a pet can be devestating and many owners would do anything to get their animal back.

If you've ever lost a pet then you know that this can be absolutely devastating especially when thinking about what may have happened to them. It's not uncommon for animals to run off whether they're scared or they just get loose and go off exploring a little too far away from home.

Regardless of how it happens, it's always a sad sight to see no matter what, and many owners would go to extreme lengths in order to find their lost pet. If you've ever been in that exact situation then you know exactly how it feels and what lengths you'd go to in order to get your animals back.

These pets usually become a huge part of our family and they are as close to us as any other family member, if not closer. With this said, we are going to look into the story of a couple who got rather clever with their ideas in order to get their dog back.

They experienced this exact situation as they were out with their dog, and it ran off after being scared by a person on a bike. Again, this isn't uncommon, but this dog was gone for five days before the couple was able to get it back.

Let's look at the story and see what this couple did that was so clever it made the dog come right back where he needed to be at to reunite with its owners.

Liam and Kelly's Chihuahua named Penny is the dog that we'll be talking about today.

They were out on a walk with Penny when she ran off after getting spooked by a cyclist. The couple searced everywhere for Penny and to no avail. They eventually decided to get in touch with a missing dog expert named Mandy Butler of the Lost Dog Trapping Team.

She said that Penny might end up returning back to the area where she got lost, instead of trying to find her way back home. So the couple decided to stay in the area where they lost Penny and camp out in the woods in hopes that she'd come back where she was lost.

This is when the couple got really clever about what they decided to do to lure her back home.

Liam and Kelly decided to try an unconventional method of coaxing her back to the area where she got lost. They decided to grill up her favorite food, which was sausages and this allowed the smell to roam in the area where Kelly and Liam were staying and waiting for their Penny.

The couple camped in the woods for five whole nights, cooking sausages to help lure their Penny back home. After almost a week there was still no sign of her and they decided to try looking for her in a different area of town.

Liam and Kelly eventually saw Penny sitting in the middle of a field as they were searching but when Liam tried catching her, she ran away again. they continued to work with the dog trapping them in hopes of getting her, but it seemed that none of the methods were working.

“I was really despondent and losing hope,” Kelly said. It wasn't until Penny's birthday when the couple got the call that they were waiting for for almost a week.

We can't imagine how this couple felt without their dog for this long.

Someone had called Liam and Kelly to say that Penny was scratching at their door to be let in and that she was most likely confused and thought she was at home. The couple quickly went to pick up Penny and alas they were reunited.

Liam even got a tattoo of Penny surrounded by sausages to remember her return.

“It was like Christmas,” Kelly said. “I just couldn’t sleep. I was so excited.”

Here we can see how happy Penny is to be back with mom and dad.

As a special treat to celebrate Penny coming back safely, they cooked her up some of her favorite sausages.

“She got the zoomies,” Kelly said. “It was so cute. It’s like she was saying, ‘I finally got my sausage.’”

This is such a heartwarming story and it truly shows the lengths that people will go to in order to keep their pets safe and get them returned back home if they escape. We ae happy to hear that this story has a good ending and that Penny finally got the sausages she was waiting for.
